sopranos series 6 dvd discs

hi all,
was'nt sure where top post this so here goes.....
anybody had any problems with the sopranos series 6 dvd disc playing in there machines?

.....the player in question for me is the sony s550 blu ray player.

..everything is hunky dory till about 1/2 an hour in .....suddenly the player becomes quite noisey and seems to be vibrating quite a lot?
...thought it was the player but other dvd's play fine and so did series 5 sopranos i tried ealier today????
can only assume it's a problem with the discs?
.....never had any thing like this before with other players so a bit of a weird one for me?

....question is has anyone else had a any problems with the last season of this truely great tv series?

cheers in advance.

Re: sopranos series 6 dvd discs

Hello mate, I don't have the same player but I could try the disks in my ps3 tomorrow night for you just to see? Does it happen with every disk in the set?

Is it the season 6 set or season 6 - the final episodes? (if they'd called it season 7 would've made things easier )

Sam

Re: sopranos series 6 dvd discs

cheers for the reply...
that was going to be my next move..ask a fellow 550 owner who happens to own the boxset to give it a go.
....i got both part 1 and 2 season 6 for crimbo.....have'nt played part 2 yet....but all of part 1 dvd discs did the same thing....fine for about 30 or 50 mins than things got noisey......thought next door were doing something till i went up close to the player and it was vibrating quite a bit....
once or twice it stopped if i moved the player slightly.

like i say weird cos all the other dvd's i played it so far have been fine....like i say even a previous series 5 disc?

....you could give it a go i suppose and see what happens.

cheers

Re: sopranos series 6 dvd discs

I know it's probably not much help but I tried a disk from that series earlier, let it run through and it played fine with no irregular noises etc. You could search around the dvd player forum to see if people have had problems with your player on certain disks for what it's worth? Failing that it's probably a faulty set of disks, although would be strange for all of them in the set to be caput .

(On a side note is your series 5 box different to your other series? I have every series and they're all in the hard glossy cardboard boxes except for series 5 which really bugs the ocd part of me! 5 is the only one I bought off ebay , so presumed this is why - but just wondered?)

Re: sopranos series 6 dvd discs

I think this is more a disc problem than anything, the disc might not be quiet 'true' enough or isn't flat or has a heavy spot somewhere on the disc.

Re: sopranos series 6 dvd discs

well got it from amazon........dont suppose that matters much as as you say sounds like a disc problem........well in this case all 4 or em.....if it was a batch i suppose more people would be reporting problems.....
dont know if it's worth enquiring about returning the box set?
