PS3 Now supports upscale of Blu Ray SD content

I know quite alot of people on here have been wanting this feature for a while.
When playing a Blu Ray special feature which is in SD, the PS3 now upscales the content to match your current HD resolution.
This is included in the 2.40 update out now.

EDIT: Sorry this feature is not for BDMV but BDAV-For Home Made Discs.
Damn, still waiting.

Re: PS3 Now Supports Blu Ray SD Upscailing

Most TVs do a good enough job compared to the PS3 so it isn't really that important. If the content is SD it can only ever be so good.

I'm surprised it didn't do that already, but I've never watched any of my special features so far.

The bit that annoys me a little bit, is the couple second flickering, on my tv as it changes resolutions. Only something minor but i would much prefer a smooth transition between the HD menus and the SD features.
Its especially noticeable if the special feature are only quick snippets as its constantly having to change resolutions.

Was just going to download the new version. But seems that they have stopped it due to people having issues with it. Apparently causing the PS3 is freeze.

I've found them to be very good as a rule. It's a shame if this is the case. I'll have to check the Blu-Ray section.

All the best

Re: PS3 Now Supports Blu Ray SD Upscailing

It seems strange that it doesn't upscale the SD as the PS3 already has a scaler algorithm.
Sony must have a reason otherwise they would surely have implemented it.
