Thumbs up The region free "cuts" thread?

I'm finding it a little bit difficult (and time consuming) to find information on exactly which UK blu-rays have been cut. I think we should start a thread on this. I would prefer to buy UK blu-rays but if they have been cut in anyway then I would much prefer to get the uncut versions.

If any can add to the other ones on the list as well as other blu's then please feel free as I want to buy these.

Criteria - region free or region B and blu-ray only! Specify which part of the UK release is cut, and which release is uncut.

Casino Royale

US Version - cut (part of the fight at the start)
UK version - cut (the tortune scene, the bit with the "ahem" "bits")
AUS Version - uncut

Face/Off

UK - butterfly knife scene cut
US - Uncut

Con Air

UK - Nic Cage kicks the guy into a pole is cut
US - Uncut

Crimson Tide

5 minutes less run time than the US version? Anyone know?

Master and Commander
Starship Troopers
S.W.A.T.

5 min less runtime? According to amazon

The Shining

Dont NTSC films have a longer runtime then pal due to more frames (or at least that was the case of VHS)

We're in HD here so that doesn't apply. You are correct with Beta, VHS, Laserdisc and DVD. With HD shorter running times mean cuts ot the other version is extended.

PAL and NTSC are SD terms, pretty much all HD releases are 1080p/24 worldwide so the running times are exactly the same as they were at the cinema.

What Amazon have probaley done is just put the DVD spec on the Blu-ray release so the running time wouldnt match up with the UK spec but I am sure they are exactly the same.

Con Air is not cut in the UK. Never has been. If the Blu ray is in any way censored, then I want to know why.

The pole scene is in my DVD version, I was surprised that it was cut from the Blu Ray version.

It's the part when the Baddie drops the knotted rope over Bond's shoulder and says something like " What a pity". About 3secs. Not that much and a strange cut at that!

Re: The region free "cuts" thread?

What pole bit in Con Air? When he's fighting matey in the ship's hold? I keep hearing about how the UK version is cut in several places (this is from the DVD days) but I've never seen actual proof. (FYI the R3 DTS DVD is exactly the same as the UK theatrical edit.)

Re: The region free "cuts" thread?

Is In the Line of Fire still cut on UK Blu-ray? They chopped 10 seconds from the DVD version. I think the US Blu is region free, so that's a possible alternative.
