Blu-rays With Dts Hd Master Audio

With the impending release of the firmware update for the PS3 to allow DTS HD Master Audio sound, does anyone have a list of the current films available with this sound format as an option.
The only one i know of is Kindom of Heaven.

Re: Blu-rays With Dts Hd Master Audio

I'm at work at the moment so can't check my discs, but more I've noticed and more I've bought over the last few months have a DTS-MA (rather than TrueHD or PCM) sound track.

A couple that spring to mind are iRobot (US Fox, Region A) and Rendition (UK New Line, Region B), the latter having a DTS MA 7.1 sound track (not sure if iRobot is 5.1 or 7.1)

I've got The Departed, Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy and Die Hard 4.0 put to one side for the upgrade.

All the best

So what will this upgrade actually do?

Will it send the DTS HD tracks to my amp as uncompressed PCM?

Re: Blu-rays With Dts Hd Master Audio

Just out of interest, has anyone ordered from Amazon.com before?

And got bluray discs shipped to the UK? just they have I Am Legend for $18.99 plus about $2.99 for priority shipping, should work out to around £12 I recon? But not sure if customs get involved in cheaper shipping items? heard it needed to be less than £18 and they wouldnt look at it?

May have posted this in a wrong section?

Re: Blu-rays With Dts Hd Master Audio

I got caught out with amazon.com. I ordered the Resident evil triliogy boxset on blue ray, sounded like a real bargain at only £25. I then had to add £6 for shipping and then got stung at customs for an extra £13.50. So the grand total was about £45. This wasn't too bad as it was a three disc set, but it certainly ruined my day.

Re: Blu-rays With Dts Hd Master Audio

I was hoping that if I kept it below the £18 they wouldnt flag it, read that somewhere else on these forums?

Although it would be tempting to order a few other items to save on shipping I think that would be greedy, may just give it a try and see, it sells for £18 on most websites at the moment.

Re: Blu-rays With Dts Hd Master Audio

As per the feedback from members of AVS forum it looks like DTS-HD MA/HR 5.1/7.1 works flawlessly with New Line titles being an exception.

I ordered I Am Legend from amazon.com a couple of weeks ago. $18.95 but I think normal international shipping added nearly £4, not $2.99. It arrived 12 days after order date and came via Germany.

If you keep your goods below £18, you won't pay any duty.

I think I'm right in saying that from what I've read it's the extra 2 rear channels on 7.1 tracks that have the problem (no audio)? I don't have any region A New Line Blu-rays I can test on my PS3.

Re: Blu-rays With Dts Hd Master Audio

if a title is listed as DTS HD (like uk release of phantom of the opera) what will it output at now?

Also does anyone know what the Uk release of Hairpsray is - is it DTS or DTS HD?

The Titles must be labeled as DTS-HD Master Audio for the true lossless codec, if titles are labeled DTS-HD then you are more than likely just getting normal DTS @ 1.5mbps if it is labeled DTS-HD High Resolution then expect up to around 6mbps but not the full 24.5mbps as found on Master Audio titles.

This is due to DTS themselves rebranding the DTS format for the home, Some titles mentioned in this thread already are just standard and HR flavours of DTS.

Close Encounters of the third kind is DTS-HD High Resolution

Hitchikers guide to the galaxy is DTS-HD 1.5mbps vanilla standard.

All highly confusing i know but blame DTS for that, If you want the full lossless codec then make sure your titles are labeled DTS-HD Master Audio then you will have no doubt that you are listening to the full Bitrate codec

I think what he meant was:

DTS HD; plain old vanilla DTS = 1.5MB/s
DTS HR Audio = 6MB/s
DTS HD Master Audio = 24B/s

AFAIK : The Max bitrate that is possible with DTS-HD soundtracks is totally different to the average Max bitrate of BR movies... Even ones with DTS-HD MA soundtracks, which I think are normally no more than about 6Mbps, this is all to do with original soundtracks never being more than 24Bits / 48Khz ... so it's very unlikely we'll ever see DTS-HD MA soundtracks above 6Mbps certainly not at 24Mbps. However they are still lossless versions of the master soundtracks..
