Why are most Blu-ray movies DTS?

Sorry if this has been covered.

I am fairly new to Blu-ray, but I have noticed that most of the soundtracks, despite the box saying they have DD, only have DTS for the main soundtrack, or in some cases only have DTS.

I wondered why this is, I have noticed many use DTS HD, and wondered if it was to save space/money, by using the DTS HD track only, and then just outputting it as 5.1 in my case, rather than also putting on a DD 5.1 track.

I actually think I prefer the DTS, often I found the DD made the centre channels far to low, and also the back channels were rarely used.

Actually m8 most DON;T have DTS. fox titles all have DTS-HD (Master audio) - well near enough, also Newline and liongate do. However the rest use either Dolby Tru-HD or PCM (uncompressed)

Sounds like your buying mainly fox Blu-Rays :D

Your right, I had one with DD, that was Sony Res Evil. Rest were mainly fox.

And a bit of advice, fox titles are also the most expensive and extras-free off all Blu-Rays -
