What films will SUFFER from a HD transfer?

I am a big fan of Jet Li and have all of his films. In quite a lot of his films he uses wire-stunts to enhance the action. However, when the films came out in the UK and US on DVD with better transfers, the wires were easily visible above the actors, and kind of spoiled it (they didn't have the technology or money to remove them like they do now). I don't think I'll bother getting his earlier films on BD because of the same reason- the wires will be even more visible than on DVD.
Are there any other films you guys can think of that will actually be at a disadvantage with a sharper HD transfer?

I think "stop go" animation movies, eg wallace and gromit don't turn out well.
Watched the curse of the wererabbit on the HD channel and it seemed to make the movie worse.

Damn. I would have thought those would look quite good in HD- the DVD's (Chicken Run, Wererabbit) despite the lack of resolution look really good. May I ask how you thought it looked worse?

The problem with these films is that the wires are visible by their absence. Regardless of the visibility of the wires the motion of the actors is well wrong.

Just my opinion of course but I thought that the sharper picture just highlighted the fact that the animation isn't as smooth as it could be using CGI.

The lack of resolution (again just opinion) seems to smooth things out more.

Paul.

Thanks for your opinion. It will be interesting to see if reviews say the same about these films when released on BD.

Also, when angered the onslaught of lossless audio can be quite awesome........one of the only times I'd prefer a weedy Dolby Digital mix!!!

Re: What films will SUFFER from a HD transfer?

I find films that use a lot of excessive CGI like LOTR and the Star Wars prequels to suffer a bit. Some scenes look more like PC game trailers than films!

Re: What films will SUFFER from a HD transfer?

Yes I also think perhaps films with particularly poor blue/green screen will come out worse on HD too. Your mention of LotR made me think of this, as there are some parts where they obviously hurried through the process and doesn't come out as good as it should have been if a bit more time had been spent on them.

A few times now people have said they don't want pron in HD. Why? Does the high resolution of a girl in real life turn you off?

If you met a girl and she had a spot on her chin and a birthmark on her stomach would it put you off sleeping with her? Would you turn her down?

I don't want models airbrushed I'm happy for them to look real. If they look flawed fine.

Why do people keep writing 'pron' instead of 'porn'?

A lot of forums have measures to filter out the word "Porn" and anything associated with it, so people use "Pron" to circumvent this.

The same applies with email spam filters.

That why when you get a spam email for something, let's say viagra, often o's are replaced with 0's, 5's with S's etc.
