Blu-ray PAYG rental

Anyone using either EasyCinema or Lovefilm PAYG (or others) and got any comments?

I was looking at Lovefilm PAYG £12 for 4 films, which through Quidco you get £15 back for signing up.

Re: Blu-ray PAYG rental

I've used lovefilm before for DVD but not blu-ray, 90% of the time they are great, I've had about 5 out of 100 discs not arrive, and they have been really quick to rectify it.

Re: Blu-ray PAYG rental

I'm using LoveFilm. I'm currently on the £7.99 package (2 discs at a time, 4 per month) as I want to see how it goes.
So far so good. Delivery is very fast and they seem to have loads of blu-rays available. I'm on my 2nd month so far and I haven't felt the need to upgrade yet. A movie a week is enough for me most of the time.

Re: Blu-ray PAYG rental

I've been with them since about June 2007 on their 3 discs at once subscription. In that time I think I've averaged around 12 films a month, which means each rental is just over £1 for me, which I don't think you'll beat if you look anywhere else.

Yes they are sometimes slow with getting you the top priority titles, but they do eventually come. They are also really good with TV shows, I recently go sent all 6 discs to Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip in the space of a few weeks. Once I got the first disc, they then all followed.

Blu-Ray wise I probably get 3-4 a month and I'm sure as time goes on with Blu-Ray releases in the future, this number will grow. If you look about on the net I'm sure you can get like 3 months trial voucher if you're still not convinced. Overall I'd happily recommend lovefilm

p.s this week I was sent the wrong disc for the first time, apart from that small blip, all the discs I've rented in the last 8 months or so, I've never had one playback issue due to scratches

Re: Blu-ray PAYG rental

im with amazon and doing 15 quid for unlimited 3 disc rental

the only thing that annoys me with amazon is that they take forever to recieve your returned disc and then send out another

i used to be on blockbuster and i kid you not i could average 9 discs a week (watch all 3 on the day you recieve them and then post them before last post so they get them the day after) because their turn around time was so fast

however blockbuster was atrocious with your rental lists. you could comprise a list of 100 dvds and youd end up getting number 9, 13, 23

with amazon at least they have an estimated waiting period next to each disc (eg available now, short wait, long wait, very long wait) so you can compile your rental list with some knowledge of when youre going to get them

however their turn around time is so frustrating that i may go back to blockbuster

Re: Blu-ray PAYG rental

with LoveFilm, if I return a disc on day 1, I'll get the next disc on day 3. Once I I even got the next disc on day 2, don't know how it happened.
So far I've also been receiving discs that are high on my list.

I used to be with Blockbusters a few years ago and I agree, I hardly ever got discs that were at top of my list.

Re: Blu-ray PAYG rental

I use Easycinema for all my HDDVDs and Bluray rentals. It's great, just £1.99 per film and you pay in credits, based on how many you want at a time. So with me I go for 2 at a time package which is a prepay of £14 for 7 credits. Each credit is a disc, once all gone, buy some more - so it really is pay for what you use.

All discs have been in good nick as well.
Cheers

Do you have to compile a list and receive whatever they have available. Or can you actually specify a particular film and get that relatively quickly?

no you get to compile a lsit and then get what's available. Not ideal but I'm used to it now and don't mind.
