Transformers HD-DVD

Am I right in thinking that everyone looks yellow and sweaty in this? I assume this is just the way the film was produced, I just want some confirmation?

I know it's a new love/hate fanboy type of film. However, I reckon this fits in with the type of X-Men, Day after Tomorrow & Independance Day type of movies?

The classical soundtrack score I have to say is phenomenal. If you have the opportunity to get this and have a decent audio setup, it really is very moving. I can listen to this in the background, while browsing the net on the PC and become overwhelmed by it. It deserves some recognition...

Re: Transformers HD-DVD

To be honest i loved the film and so did the wife and kids.
I thought the soundtrack was brilliant to and always crank the sound up when the theme kicks in,good stuff.
When this makes the transition to BD i hope it's as good as the HD version which is one of the best ever.

I love MB. Go,Go,Go.

Trade Mark

Intense slow motion shots of characters

Films often feature a US President giving a major speech before a major action is to be committed.

Has the camera moving during most scenes. Very rarely uses static shots.

(2001) His last 3 films all share: a) two male leads at odds with another; b) a cataclysmic event as the narrative's fulcrumic point; c) the film's lead female character has i) been a long-haired brunette, and ii) watched the film's climax from a control room

Actors/characters in his films are almost uniformly shot in tight, emphatic close ups, framed under the hairline and above the chin.

Often uses lightflashes (i.e. lightbulbs and cameraflashes) to enhance scenes.

Often has over-the-top visuals (i.e. key events taking place at sunset or dramatic events taking place behind actors doing routine activities).

Utilizes monotonic but intense musical cues during action-filled car chase scenes. Bad Boys II (2003), The Island (2005)

Movies tend to be divided in two acts. The first one establishes the narrative and introduces the characters, allowing them to bond, usually in humorous and/or romantic ways. The second act is a non-stop action sequence.

Uses shots of aircraft against a setting sun, especially helicopters (Armageddon (1998/I), Pearl Harbor (2001), Transformers (2007)).

Often features a slow-motion shot of an object crashing into, or tumbling towards the camera.

Uses a shot where the camera spins in a circle around characters. (Bad Boys II, Transformers)

Re: Transformers HD-DVD

Transformers is a fantastic piece of cinema and the HD DVD is what HDM is all about.

It's simply the best HD title available today.... still, including all other Blu and Red releases.

Epic movie that is just so good at times, sent a shiver down my back like a fantastic song would. Those moments are few and far between for me, but the first time I watched it at the cinema I was blown away.

They took a nostalgic memory and turned it into something special.

This film has it all, the humour, the action, the romance.... it's all there.

Very rare movies hit that sweet spot for me, and the ones before it include the likes of Shawshank Redemption and American Beauty.

The biggest and greatest part of this movie... where as many films hit the hour mark and then are just a run down to try and cram the rest in the minutes you have left, this one does the opposite and goes all out for an hour more.

Be nuts not to buy it.

Re: Transformers HD-DVD

Totally agree. Terrific movie and reference technical presentation on HD DVD. Good that it was directed by Michael Bay because he is amongst the few directors who has understood the pulse of cinema lovers.
