"It's All Happening"

Almost Famous is now scheduled for a UK blu Ray release b Sony on 11/02/08.

One of my fave films ever, hopefully they will do a quality job on the audio track!

Great movie, might put off watching the SD Directors Cut in favour of this, any news on Jerry Maguire yet?

Nope fraid not, haven't seen anything confirming it's release. It was originally scheduled for Q4 in 2007 from what I can tell, but like a number of other planned releases (Gattaca, Marie Antoinette etc) it seems to have disappeared altogether.

Re: "It's All Happening"

The theatrical cut is still a great version, but is this the sort of **** we're going to get from Blu-Ray with their releases ? I have the Region 1 Almost Famous directors cut DVD with its two cuts for theatrical and director versions plus the extra CD of the movie band greatest hits - clearly we'll get nothing like that release, it's like going backwards

Exactly! - Well said that man I hope we'll be proved wrong and it will contain options to view both versions - The bonus cd like in the US Directors cut you have would be fantastic but just isn't gonna happen unfortunately.

fingers crossed on this one..........

Re: "It's All Happening"

Check this out

quoted from cameron crowes website news page

"Almost Famous (which was recently announced in the UK and Japan for Blu-Ray). It seems that the UK will get the theatrical version and Japan will get the Bootleg Cut. It’s very confusing as Paramount/DreamWorks owns the rights in the U.S. (which means HD-DVD only), but Sony holds the rights in most other countries (which means Blu-Ray). Also, Japan and the USA are in the same region, so if you have a U.S. Blu-Ray player, it will play the Japanese Blu-Ray!"

Re: Almost Famous

This does appear to be the "Untitled" version. While it is difficult to want to be deprived of the Kate Hudson cover, the Region 1 DVD Untitled sleeve art was pretty cool, like an album sleeve - unlike this cheesy euro-porn cover they've saddled the Blu-Ray with. And I don't recall seeing Kate Hudson in that pose during either cut of the movie (think I would have remembered !). I might wait and see what the US version is like. It does seem quite a bargain for a Blu-Ray: £14 on playcom and even cheaper on amazon.com.uk if you qualify for free postage.

Re: Almost Famous

Its 11.89 on sendit.com

The photo on the sleazy cover was used in the original Region 2 single disc release, I believe. It makes me laugh but I don't care as long as it's a good transfer....speaking of which?

For people who want a red hot cover can try importing the Japanese version.

Re: "It's All Happening"

Thankfully it looks like things have turned out okay for this release as both amazon and now Play are showing the full length "Untitled" version. Sendit is still showing running time as 118mins but given recent threads elsewhere here on avforums other members are stating it's the true extended version. (and far better version in my opinion).

Re: Almost Famous

well,it's def the "Untitled" version....
looks superb although some scenes look standard DVD...
it was never gonna be a reference movie as it's shot in that soft warm 70s feel
but some scenes are much better...
sound is a little better - but maybe only coz i wanted it to be !
love this movie though and wouldve paid £50 for it.....so seemed a bargain

Re: "It's All Happening"

think there are 2 threads on this alright, but just to re-iterate....
i bought the uk version and it's def the longer "untitled" cut of the movie..
and what's better is it's region a/b/c so i'd no issue playing it on my US PS3
