Blockbuster VS ilovefilm

Hi guys i'm not sure if anyone has started this thread before but i was wondering how many people have tryed both of these online DVD rental suppliers
and which one was the most efficient..ie..how quick the turn around was for sending and recieving your DVD's in the post?
I'am currently with Blockbuster online but the turn around just lately seems to be getting longer..the last being 8 days,I know it's been christmas and the post is always pants but they do claim to be First class post!!
Is ILOVEFILM better? let me know your oppinions please.
Many thanks.

Re: Blockbuster VS ilovefilm

LoveFilm and Blockbuster are each good in their own way and each have their own problems; all depending what it is you want out of an online DVD rental service.
For what I want out of them:

Good:
Lovefilm sends me (usually) the films according to the priorities in which I've listed them

Blockbuster turnaround is same day they receive a disc(s) back from you i.e. if you send a disc back on Monday, you get a new disc through the letterbox on Wednesday (assuming Royal Mail don't hold things up).

Bad:
Lovefilm turnaround is never same day i.e. my rental slots are always left empty for at least one working day before the next title(s) gets allocated. This is their (unofficial) way of throttling how many discs you get sent out per month. Complaints about this never led anywhere with them.

Blockbuster doesn't necessarilly send out the movies at the top of my rental queue. Having said that, they sometimes list new releases as "available" before they've been released to market, so these titles just sit at the top of my queue until sometime later when they actually get released.
Currently, I have some 20 titles that have now been sitting at the top of my rental queue for several months but have not yet been allocated.
This used to not be an issue with BB when I first joined them, but these stock issues have grown over time (maybe because with BB's financial trouble they haven't kept sufficient investment going in keeping their rental stock up to par). The stocking issue is both with older movies as well has new releases (SD and HD discs).

Id go against this ive had lovefilm now for about 2 years and have never had a long wait for a disc. 99.9% of the time i post a disc say monday afternoon it shows on their systme tuesday and a new one gets allocated which i get wednesday even if i send back 3 at a time.....cant fault it

Re: Blockbuster VS ilovefilm

I'm with the guy who says Lovefilm are throttling your DVDs. If you absolutely cane through films as we do in our house, they seem to leave your queue empty for a day after receiving a film back. That said, they DID compensate with an extra disc for the first postal strike last year, but not the second, longer one, as I recall.

Re: Blockbuster VS ilovefilm

I've used easy cinema (lovefilm) for ages with DVD and have just started getting HD-DVDs to play on my EP35. However neither of the first two worked, despite cleaning. Batman begins, starts then stops after the FBI warning, while V for Vendetta came up with a no disc error. Baring in mind the 12 or so new discs i bought have had no issues.

Both discs were in poor shape, and unfortunatly despite what the folks say at the dvd froum, i do think HD-DVDs are more sensitive to damage than DVDs ever were.

I've sent the discs back and reported the fault, so their going to reissue them, i'll see what happens but i'll be looking for another source of discs if the second batch come in such poor condition.

Re: Blockbuster VS ilovefilm

been using BB for a year now i think, might be longer, i forget...lol

very good service, pop in postbox on monday, normally get discs on wednesday thru my door, even during Xmas I got them quickly, possibly an extra day longer it took but thats forgivable at the time of year. Had my first batch of HD-DVD's through, watched V for Vendetta last night, little bit scratched up, but played flawlessly on my EP-35, didnt bother with the other two, Mummy Returns had a massive scratch on it that would never have played, and Tokyo Drift was mucky as if someone had tried to spread honey on it and have a munch so I marked the card with a tick for faulty on each of those and sent them back, waiting on the next lot now
