Hogfather in HD glory

Anyone else wishing that Fox would release this title over here?! Perfect time of the year and it's not coming Which will probably mean we will have to wait another year for it (if we are lucky!)

Yes ! ... Me Too. Though I do wonder if Sky Hi Definition has an option to repeat it again this coming HOGWATCH ? There isn't exactly an overwhelming quantity of High Def material on Sky just yet so if they do have some sort of contractual tie up on its release in High Definition then we could wait a Very Long Time . HO ! HO! HO !

Re: Hogfather in HD glory

Knowing my luck after patiently waiting for a HD release it would end up on Blu-ray, not to worry though my PC is ready for the HD repeat next month, same for Razor since that has no HD release either

the only thing that spoiled it for me was that one person who based his character on Johnny Depp in Charlie and the chocolate factory, was a bit annoying at first but soon got used to it.

I enjoyed it and it was significantly better than the animated versions of the books, the only problem for me is that Hogfather is at the bottom of my list in favourite Discworld novels.

They are releasing it over here. It just came out on DVD at Borders stores this week, and it is being broadcast on TV on Sunday! I'm working with ION, the network that is airing it. It's Sunday 11/25 at 7/6 C on the ION Network. I hope you'll tune in!!

The trailer is here: http://video.yahoo.com/video/play?vid=1460827

Is that in standard DVD or High Definition? The standard DVD has been available in the UK for some time now in both ordinary and special ' Limited Edition ' versions at the usual rip off prices for standard DVD .. or anything else for that matter. I've delayed buying it because it was filmed in High Def and broadcast in Hi Def on Sky and so there is at least a strong possibility that it will be re-broadcast this Hogwatch. The trailers fun, I just hope that the film is successful in the States so that more Pratchett novels will be turned into films.

You probably are aware that " A film based on The Colour of Magic and The Light Fantastic (both books are being merged into one as they follow on) is currently under production also for Sky One. "

" DEL Boy actor Sir David Jason will be spellbinding in his next role as a

WIZARD, TV Biz can reveal.

He is to play “failed” sorcerer Rincewind in Sky One’s The Colour of Magic.

And the Only Fools star says the fantasy drama ? based on a Terry Pratchett Discworld novel ? will have an even BIGGER budget and BETTER special effects than his last Pratchett telly adaptation, Hogfather. " The Sun

Here is a link to " The Sun " ... now Look I don't read the damn thing I was just told about this piece all right ? .....

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...ticle26341.ece

and another to skyoneonline ......

http://www.skyoneonline.co.uk/tcom/news.htm

" CAMERAS ROLL ON TERRY PRATCHETT’S, ‘THE COLOUR OF MAGIC’
SEAN ASTIN, TIM CURRY AND CHRISTOPHER LEE JOIN SIR DAVID JASON IN THE STELLAR CAST OF THE UPCOMING ADAPTATION OF TERRY PRATCHETT’S BELOVED CLASSIC, ‘THE COLOUR OF MAGIC’.

Filming of the epic fantasy is already underway at Londons’ famous Pinewood Studios. Following on the massive success of ’Hogfather’ in December 2006, the BAFTA award winning team of SKY ONE, MOB Film and RHI return to magical Universe for this the second live-action outing of a Pratchett novel. "

Yes, I always pictured Rincewind to be 20s/30s.

Maybe late 30s or early 40s ... a Very Hang On To University like Grim Death PhD Student .... without the advanced degree but perpetually on the verge of achieving it.

Time is a peculiarly flexible concept on The Disc World and Rincewind has been subjected to all sorts of magical influences ... which would surely not have left him looking like David Jason who was well cast in Hogfather but isn't as well cast in this latest production. Rincewind should look as he does in the Josh Kirby illustrations .. say the illos in " Eric " or, like ... damn! The names slipped my mind ...who was it played " Catweazel " in the children's TV series of Long Ago?

Re: Hogfather in HD glory

Rincewinds primary activity is running away something Jason is not really upto, he wasn't the most athletic looking actor in his prime and in this production the headline actor has come before what the story required, never a good thing.
