The Pixar Short Films Collection: Volume 1

I've been looking forward to this for quite a while, so it's good to see such great reviews:

http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/1026...ollection.html

And Region Free, too.

What a great little collection with which my newborn daughter can grow up.

Re: The Pixar Short Films Collection: Volume 1

This is great news!

I prefer the Pixar shorts to many of their feature films, so this will be a must get.

The only worrying thing is this comment from the HDD review:

Quote:
The only downside in the package is the presentation of some the earliest shorts. Given their age, I suppose it shouldn't surprise that "The Adventures of Andre and Wally B," "Luxo Jr," "Red's Dream" and "Tin Toy" just don't have the same vibrancy as the digital-to-digital transfers of the other more recent shorts, and are plagued by pixelation and drab colors.

I can't imagine why this should be the case.

If the digital 'original' isn't of the same resolution as their modern offerings, this is something that could - and should- be corrected, surely?

I'm not sure what else could account for pixelation.

I've chosen HD-DVD for my platform of choice and it kills me that Pixar and Disney are on Bluray.

maybe they deleted those and only had old analog prints to work from?

Hmmm, I highly doubt they would delete them, especially a company as big as pixar.

Re: The Pixar Short Films Collection: Volume 1

ok i have now watched this and am happy to report that everything looks crisp with no sign of pixelation. if anything the image is so clean it dates some of the older shorts even more (well the first one was released in 1984 lol)

this is a great buy all the shorts have comentries and theres a look at the history of pixar, not sure how gd these are as i havent watched/listened to them yet

Re: The Pixar Short Films Collection: Volume 1

Mine plays at 24Hz if I sit through all the trailers, but if I skip straight to the menu/feature it hangs just before the video clip of the Pixar building.
