The Matrix French HD-DVD release

I really don't want the sequels but I would like The Matrix on HD-DVD.

My limited French has discovered a single release of the first film on Amazon.fr. Has anyone seen this release - it doesn't have forced French subs or anything? Can anyone recommend a good supplier of French discs to the UK?

Well I've ordered it off Amazon.fr for 31Euros delivered. From a review I Babelfished it doesn't have forced subtitles so I think the worst that can happen is it'll have French menus. I'll report back here once it's arrived.

I think there's a good chance it'll be the UK release unbundled from the crappy sequels

OK, 7 working days after my order with amazon.fr the disc arrived. It seems to be called "Matrix" with no "The" and the cover is in French but the disc is a combo which appears identical to what I've read about the UK release. The HD-DVD side is the movie (with entirely English menus on my EP10) with some extras and the DVD side is The Matrix Revisited and the White Rabbit features.

So if you can put up with French descriptions on the box, you can get the good Matrix film delivered for 31 Euros from amazon.fr.

Hope someone else finds this useful! Just watched the lobby shootout. Ahhhhhhhhh.

I bought Total Recall from Amazon France a few months ago. No problems with that.

I see they have 'Enemy at the Gates' in HD DVD too. They call it 'Stalingrad' though. I imagine that's even more gritty in high def.

i have just watched mine and after 1 hour i get error code 408bc504 and i can't watch the rest of the movie. i have e-mailed amazon france but as i can't speak or write french i think i may be on a loser with this.this is typical it's the only disc out of the 50 odd discs i have that i have a problem with this.sods law i guess.

Did you ever sort this Harry? Has anyone else had an issue with this version. I've ordered one from Amazon.fr for 19 euros delivered which is a bargain as long as it works

no i'm afraid not i got a replacement disc which was the same.i saw somewhere else on the forum there was a bad batch made and if you got in touch with them they would send a newer replacement.that was some time after i got mine and as my french is non existant i decided to leave it.should have tried i suppose but the thought of trying to translate into french gave me nightmares.i seem to remember it was on quite a few different titles.hope they have it sorted by now.

got my disc through last week and it also stops just after an hour in. You can skip the 'hiccup' or scene select passed it but was a bit gutted. I may try it on an Xbox 360 HD-DVD drive and see if it's the same.
