Universal times out 2007 with some Van Dam cheese.

Universal has announced its last HD-DVD title of 2007, Time Cop.

It gets better....

Time Cop will come on a HD-15!

It also comes with no PiP features, no True-HD or DTS-HR.

It doesn't come with any HD extras either.

Enjoy.

BadAss once again you have to run HD DVD down without checking out the facts.

It has an extra. A trailer. Oops trailer is probably SD though.

Of course.. we can't discuss BD25 releases without discussing HD-15

Just a shame it's such a dismal film.... . Am I the only one who is begining to wonder if we'll have many 'A1' HD releases for Xmas. Both formats have a few, but with some of the recent announcements such as this, I'm starting to doubt we'll see many more this year???

I can see that you're jealous...

But I don't see what you're getting at. Both formats have released poo, so why stir?

Nobody up in arms about no more Universal announcements for 2007?

Nobody up in arms about no PiP?

Re: Universal times out 2007 with some Van Dam cheese.

I've still got the DTS laserdisc of Timecop, so it's due an upgrade. I do like this silly little movie, although it doesn't deserve anything more than HD-15 treatment. :D

1) Blu Ray Happy Feet could have fit on a 15GB disc, if it fits and looks OK why not.

2) Universal doesn't announce releases in date order, we don't know if anymore will be announced.

3) Err, no.

PiP tends to be on the big releases. I think you will find Universal has more releases planned. They are just drip feeding them. I imagine the big stuff will be announced in a few more weeks yet.

HD-15 - well to be honest if this was any other title I'd think *** but Timecop isn't even Van Dammes best. I'd say AWOL or Universal Soldier was better and they aren't anything special.

Anyway it's coming out at an awkward time. I imagine most want some films to watch over the holiday or on the Christmas list. This and Cat People are just there to fill the schedules.

No why? if they have encoded it and it comes in below 15GB why not use a 15GB disc? It's 98 minutes long so is half the length of Troy directors cut that also has TrueHD and extras so there is no reason a 98 minute movie won't fit fine on a 15GB disc.

If that were the case I would be but it's not, it's Universal last title in 2007, ie there are no titles to be released on the 27th,28th,29th,30th or 31st of December thats all, there will be more Universal titles announced before that I'm positive and if you fancy another bet for charity on that it would be great.

It's not the norm for catalog titles to have PiP or IME is it? some do and I find it poor when all the SD extras arn't ported over but there were no SD extras on the SD DVD so there is no surprise there are none on the HD DVD.

I won't be buying the title myself but absolutly nothing to get upset about.

I may have missed this, but where does it's Universal's last announcement for releases in 2007. It may well be there last announcement, but I can't find it mentioned anywhere in the news article.

I'm quite surprised, given this is an AV forum, how many people arent fussed about potential picture or audio quality. Whats the point of HD if its not shown off to its fullest?

Agreed this is a crap catalogue release but even so.

To be fair the title of the article on the other site implies it but I doubt that is the case. Al;though this release is really scraping the barrel so other than any day and date releases I wouldnt expect much more.

Both Universal and Paramount need to pull their fingers out IMO.
