Sticky boxes!!

Anyone got any (serious) suggestions for removing all the stickers and security devices that seem to come with MT's Blu-ray's? It literally took several minutes to get into my copy of HoaTC and now the box looks crap and is unpleasantly sticky.

Re: Sticky boxes!!

A little bit of rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol) on some kitchen roll will

remove the sticky bits that are left.

I'd imagine something like nail varnish remover would do a good job. I use plenty of furniture polish on a duster.

It's not just MT, it's Region 1 dvd's and Region B blu-ray & hd-dvd's that have annoying security devices.

Re: Sticky boxes!!

I've also noticed that if you take discs you've bought online into other stores, they will often set off the security sensors at the entrance.

I think the tags that are in the cases are activated by default!

I just use washing up liquid, and it works fine.

Re: Sticky boxes!!

I think this complaint as been reported to the studio's and then new stickers are now far less sticky.

Re: Sticky boxes!!

Are the stickers on Blu-ray different to those on HD DVD? Because I haven't had any problems yet and was wondering if I've just been lucky.

Re: Sticky boxes!!

Serious overkill in some places (on every side of the "open" box and under a wrapper) just completely pointless imo

I have damamged a couple of boxes by trying to get the silly things off

That's usually acetone based and it will melt plastic.

If you want to recreate the alien blood melting through a metal hull (as seen in alien) then get some toluene and a large block of polystyrene. It really is rather impressive. Sorry that that was off topic but it is worth it.
