Bourne

The final Bourne film will be released on HD DVD on 11th December. This will be a combo release

Also released will be a boxset with all three films.

Other news sites are reporting it- though due to forum rules I cant give you links

Re: Bourne

We get it a day earlier and it'll probably be a non-combo, so if that's an issue with you, you can always get the UK HD DVD.

Re: Bourne

I wonder if the version in the boxset will be a combi as well? Personally I'm all for them but I know others dislike them with a passion.

Re: Bourne

I would've thought it's unlikely that the UK release would be a combi.

As for the boxset well I think most Bourne fans such as myself are likely to already own the first two movies - especially as Supremacy was one of the few attractive titles amongst Toshiba's two free HD-DVDs offer. Unless it comes with additional extras the boxset will probably appeal more to those who would have only just purchased an HD-DVD player.

There will be some extras exclusive to the HD-DVD release, the most obvious extra being U-control.

Re: Bourne

because the devil has his hand in them.

I found a really interesting article on them on another site- but cant lonk to it.

Anyway for me, I like the disc art, dont like the idea of the DVD side that I'll never use, they remind me of flippers.

Also with Bourne, the first 2 are non combo, so i want the last the same.

That said- great film and a big time release for HD DVD!

I don’t hate combos I just find them unnecessary.

1. They can cost more than a normal HD DVD.
2. I buy most of my disks from America so the DVD side is region 1 - also less useful.
3. It’s not immediately obvious which side is which unless you scrutinise the label.
4. May be issues on reliability from where the two sides where bonded.
5. If I do want the DVD in about 12 months it will probably be £5. After that it will probably be free on the newspapers.
6. The only real use might be as with the Paramount Star Trek set where there is no separate DVD only option and it forces people into owning HD DVD disks.

Re: Bourne

I think I'll order the UK version.

Said it many times before I hate combo's. I like to have one side of a disc I can touch and in my experience combo's seem to be more problematic (freezing, stutters etc) that non combo's.

Only problem if I order the UK version the case will be thicker than my US copy of the first two movies.

Can't win

Re: Bourne

ha ha thats so funny- that is my exact worry with the UK version.

Universal use those horrid chunky boxes in the UK.

I wont if the Aus release will be perfect!

Re: Bourne

I have a few AUS Universal HD-DVD's and they are in the thick cases.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is not only in a thick case, but it's a combo! That made me really mad

The SD side is NTSC R1 sold in a PAL (R4) region !!!!!!!

Re: Bourne

I'll be happy to buy the combo version - haven't got a HD DVD player yet, but I plan to in the future (don't want dirty blu-ray!), so this suits me fine!

I have to admit I used to hate the thick cases because they really stood out in my collection - however now I have nearly a whole row of titles, as opposed to just a few, they don't look so bad. Coupled with the fact we are likely to see a few 'deep' cases for US releases (Bladerunner for example) and I don't think it's too much of a problem.

I'm not a big fan of the thicker case neither, but I can't wait for this release!

Thanks OP
