hot fuzz the best ever hd transfer according to

highdefdigest are rating hot fuzzz hd-dvd the best high definition disk transfer to date

"Simply put, in my opinion, this is currently the best overall high-def release on the market -- especially when you factor in the price. Purchasing 'Hot Fuzz' on HD DVD is a no-brainer for fans and an easy recommendation for newcomers. This is what high definition is all about."

Dont think I'd rate it as the best ever , but its very very good and I think they may have marked it up because there's a huge amount of quality extras on it too

Re: hot fuzz the best ever hd transfer according to

I think the review talks about it being the best overall HD package rather than actual transfer.

Very tempted to get it though but don't want a combo so i'll wait for the UK release.

Actually they gave the PQ 5 stars. Overall with 18 hrs of extras it is one of the better all round discs. It's a great film as well. my wife comes from the Gloucester area and the accents just crack me up. She was able to translate some of the subtler dialogue

Re: hot fuzz the best ever hd transfer according to

The best HD-DVD transfer I've seen so far goes to Black Street Moan Groan. The PQ on that was jaw dropping, and looked even better then Tokyo drift which was my no.1 film for transfer quality. As for Hot Fuzz, I'll need to re-watch it again to see how good the transfer was.

If anyone who buys the UK version could give some feedback, it would be greatly appreciated. I want to know if it's identical to the US disc sans combo.

As a package I would also say that Hot Fuzz is the best HD release yet. In terms of value for money, it truly excels.

Yes, best transfer accodring to hi-def-dig among others

Sure there are very good stuff on HD DVD like King of hi def Kong, Hulk, Seabiscuit, Happy Feet.

And of course, these wonderful pressed movies are played on the best Hi Def players on the market.

I am really looking forward to watching this film in hd but i will need to get a vga cable for my 360 to get the most from it as atm i am using component. How much better is the picture clarity when using a vga over a component cable.

Re: hot fuzz the best ever hd transfer according to

I have just received my copy US from MovieTyme and it won't play in my Xbox 360 HD-DVD add-on. When I play the film the Universal HD-DVD opening plays, I then get a message saying

'Can't play this content
Status code: C667000A'

However I can still hear what is presumably the music in the menu background, although all I see is this message.

Please help!

Alistair.

Two reasons for me personally - I dont like double sided discs (reading the inside curve on one side can be impossible sometimes) and its also nice to see proper artwork on the disc

The other reason is that why should you have to pay considerably more for a combo disc even though you only want one edition of the movie (seeminly hd-dvd/DVD combo's are even pricier than standard hd-dvd's - to partially pay for the dvd copy of the disc)

If I see it while Im wandering around I may buy it but its not top of my list to get ( and please some of you dont be so blinded that hd-dvd is the best, there are some equally great transfers on br)

As with HugoFJH, I object to the higher price for a DVD version I have zero need for especially given that HD DVD has been claimed to be cheaper to produce and from the early days of DVD I have not liked flippers both in terms of the technology and the aesthetics.

I understand the arguments for the combo releases but I don't believe that are any stronger than the arguments for a cheaper HD DVD only release.

Its a known problem mate and has been posted about on here and other forums, just keep ejecting and trying and sooner or later it will work.

Personally this incompatibility is why I waited for the cheaper non-combo UK disc.

So any HD content differences between the UK vs the US version? Any cuts in the UK version? If not I'll order it with sendit.

Watched Hot Fuzz last night on the HD DVD Combo and have to agree that this must be one, if not, the best video quality I have seen yet!

The whole disc is fantastic in all areas.

Any luck getting it to play Alistair? I installed the update on my Xbox and tried the disc several times but I still get the "can't play this content message..."
