Re: Fox Comes To HD DVD!

Confooosed

How is a Fox release coming out on HD DVD? I thought Fox were worldwide distributors rather than the location specific HD DVD/Blu-ray releases from other distributors.

Also, I have edited this thread, lets not stoke an already raging fire please.

* 20th Century Fox Netherlands (2007) (Netherlands) (theatrical)
* 20th Century Fox (2007) (UK) (theatrical)
* 20th Century Fox (2007) (Japan) (theatrical)

August 2nd is the only date I can find.

But yes, it does seem a bit early.

Re: Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer comes to HD DVD!

Different studios have different distributors around the world. As HD DVD is region free you can buy from anywhere. Some BR exclusives in the states are available in Europe on HD DVD.

So is it likely that a lot of Fox releases will be coming on HD DVD via Germany? I bet that would please a lot of HD DVD owners if it were true.

Very likely. Maybe even something like The Simpsons: The Movie could find it's way onto HD DVD!

This is the sort of titles you lucky HD-DVD owners can look forward too!!

Pretty good if you can get Rise of The Silver Surfer; but euro distributors don't have a great reputation compared to the big studios.

It would please alot of dual owners as well given how Fox have abandoned their (much-hyped) BluRay schedule

Re: Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer comes to HD DVD!

Foxclose just chill out a bit, as someone who has both formats I find it plain silly to watch people get aggravated over the two. Fair play to you posting up news etc... but just try and do it in a more adult way. Its turning into a Carry On film around here lately with all the sly little digs, to be fair its not just you but sometimes your choice of words gets to people.

Anyway ill be having the last laugh when I kick back to watch Forrest Warrior on hddvd

You obviously haven't seen some of the Studio Canal HD DVD's then, most people (myself included) have been extremely impressed with them so far.

Amazon in Germany don't seem to have the FF:Silver Surfer HD-DVD listed. Strange, if its meant to be out on August 2nd.

But cant wait for Apocalypto!

I'm sure they will all be available from Movietyme - they have American Haunting for £16.99 which is cheaper than ordering it from dvdgo.es in spain!

It's because it's the first movie with a 'Silver Surfer' photoshopped cover.

Silver Surfer has not been announced anywhere on HD-DVD.

Please expand on which ones you have been impressed by if you wouldnt mind?

Is Total Recall one (I cant remember if this was one of Arnie's Studio Canal movies or not) but I really wanst impressed with this - even though I grant you its a pretty old film now.

I cant see anything thats "OMG I have to get that asap" on the Aug/Sep list above, Im sure several will enjoy movies there, but nothing to my taste

As an HD DVD fan I’d love to buy that disc, but I’d rather have Type 2 Diabetes.

Re: Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer comes to HD DVD!

I dont think it matters whether new films come out on HD DVD or Blu Ray. They do after all use the same VC-1 or AVC transfer these days. The only difference is usually in the audio. But even then only slightly.

As for F4, well i guess its an american film made for an american public. That says it all

[PEDANT'S CORNER]Not wishing to disagree, but I would imaginer that it matters a little more to someone who owns only one format player.[/PEDANT'S CORNER]

That's quite a damning statement - was it really that bad?
