Re: Blade Runner - HD DVD / BluRay

It's not out till December so I think I'll wait till nearer the time. I want all the discs but not really bothered about the case and other bits and bobs.

I have the 10% discount too, but for some reason it didn't work on the Complete set?

Did anyone else's 10% discount work on the $27.95 sets?

Yeah - I noticed that too mate - I was initially gonna buy the Complete version but it didn't come up with the $2.79 discount, yet when I bought the Ultimate one it gave me $7.00 discount! V strange!

Back at Xmas I think they were offering 10% off for a year if you bought 3 HD DVDs (or something like that) or if you bought a HD player. Don't think they are still offering any similar deals but don't quote me on that. Usually good for single, ie sub £18 or whatever it is purchases. I've used it a few times but often axel or MT or others can be cheaper.

Exactly right mate - I got it last November when I bought 3 HD-DVDs from Amazon.com - got 10% discount on that purchase and then I get 10% discount on every HD-DVD or BluRay from then on.

Amazon are definitely cheaper for HD-DVD combo discs and when ordering maybe 2 or 3 discs at a time. For example I just got Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz sent yesterday from Amazon (they rarely send before release date) and they cost £25 delivered and fingers crossed they'll avoid customs! lol

Movietyme £53 for both HD & Blu-ray Ultimate sets

http://www.movietyme.com/catalog/pro...ducts_id=37390

Think I may risk the order with Amazon as I have always been lucky with them re customs and even if I get hit it will be about £16 which would make it about the same price as MT.

Re: Blade Runner - HD DVD / BluRay

I think I might order with Movietyme, mainly, their delivery times are better than Amazon, and with the release date so near to Christmas, I think you might have to pay a higher shipping rate to get it in time to watch it on Christmas Day. Unless there's a re-run of Morecambe & Wise

I succumbed. Will take a chance on Amazon though I've never had any luck avoiding HM's C&E and RM before. I know I'll be kicking myself when they release a non fancy boxset for half the price in the New Year.

Seems competitive. If the exchange rate remains as good as it's been I'll probably keep the amazon preorder too.

Re: Blade Runner - HD DVD / BluRay

I have filled out the "request a title" form over at Movietyme to find out if they will be doing the 5 disc versions WITHOUT the briefcase, for those (like me) who just don't have room for that kind of thing.

I will keep you posted (if) I get a reply.

I'll pass on the case and go for the standard 5-Disc set instead. At $27.99 (+$6 Shipping) seems like a real bargain.

These no standard 5-disc set. It's only the first four discs so you don't get the workprint version of the movie.

That is a great price for all 5 discs, but what do you miss out on with the ultimate briefcase version (besides the briefcase). Does anyone know what "memorabilia" will be included yet?

Seems a bit rubbish to pay all that extra money for a crappy case.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh! That's better.

I only wanted the 5 discs, not bothered by the other bits and bobs, and will hopefully have a better chance of avoiding interferance by HM C&E.

It looks fantastic, but where to put the case ? I have the alien head and the sonny head from IRobot, but they are stuck away in a cabinet as there simply isn't anywhere to put them. My other half is already not happy with the room that all my dvd's etc but I really would like the case, but think I'll pass. If you've got the room to display it, etc then it does look a fantastic set

Hopefully that's true then. Seems to be a lot of conflicting reports about. Will get that version rather then the ultimate version.

I saw posted on one website the actual Warner release with the details and it defo had it as 5-disc on Hi-Def formats.

Also listed at High-Def Digest with their info coming from the distributor

So what exactly is the difference between the Ultimate and Complete editions (apart from the case)?

Re: Blade Runner - HD DVD / BluRay

From thedigitalbits.com

"We've confirmed with Warner that both the Blu-ray Disc and HD-DVD editions will feature ALL FIVE VERSIONS of the film in actual 1080p video, but the extras (the documentary, deleted scenes, etc) will all be in standard definition. The reason for this has nothing to do with disc space on either format, but rather timing. Work is still ongoing on some of the extras (it's a big job as you can imagine from the list of specs). Given that, I'm told that even if high-def compression were to start today on the all the extras, there'd be no way to get the high-def versions of the set completed in time to street this year, which is the film's anniversary. That said, even though the extras will be standard def, they're going to be compressed at a very high bitrate and, with upscaling, they should look plenty good. So that's that."

Thats it I believe, the case

I have placed an order for both as I am undecided if I want to pay the extra £20 and the risk of nearly the same again in customs just for the case and the bits with it.

The case for me...I've pre-ordered it from Movietyme. Has to be the one to get. It's a limited edition, always nice.

Re: Blade Runner - HD DVD / BluRay

I wonder whether Movietyme will have the complete edition or only the ultimate? I don't want the case but I'd certainly like to order in time for Christmas.

Question: for ordering with Amazon.com do you need a US credit card or address? How do you guys manage this?

I think there is a bit more than just the case, although this could be just the SD version I doubt it.
