Not to be pedantic but what’s with the “e” in blu-ray? If any of the BD enthusiasts catch you spelling it like that and you could be in for a world of pain.

Re: What films are you waiting for on Blue-Ray ?

Apart from the usual Lord of the Rings, Matrix, Indiana Jones, Back to the Future Trilogy's and Star Wars etc, I'm most looking forward to the Pixar/Disney films to be released. Toy Story, A Bugs Life, Tarzan and so on.. Cars on Blu-Ray is already pencilled in for a November release, according to play.com

The two films i'm looking forward to most though are Titan AE, and Master and Commander.

A few others on my wish list are Independence Day, Armageddon. Oh and the Star Trek movies

Why wait? These are on Blu-ray now. Terminator and T2 (Theatrical Cut) are both out on US Blu-ray (not sure about UK) but are region free.

Superman 1 & 2 (The Donner Cut) are out also both US and UK.

As for the rest, all of them should be on Blu-ray at some stage (soon I would imagine, with obvious exception of SW)

nope no real difference at all, some say the encoding on blu is better than Hdvd
and some say the other way round.

either way i dont think you would notice any difference IMOP.

Yes i am disappointed with the amount of blu-ray films at the moment, you would think they would hurry up , just think how many PS3 world wide have been sold you would think the amount of films would pick up

Platoon and MI3 are the ones Im keen to purchase ATM.

I know MI3 is out already but as far as Im concerned at 23 quid it may as well not be-what a rip off,how do they justify such a massive price?I only just bit the bullet and paid 16 quid for kingdom of heavenrip off merchants.

You can get the whole MI trilogy on Blu Ray for around £35-£40, that's what I did, all region-free too.

Re: What films are you waiting for on Blu-Ray ?

Star Wars movies
Star Trek movies
Aliens movies
Lord of the Rings movies
13th Warrior (I have a real thing for this film)
Armageddon (cheesey but I loved it)

Why are all the biggest movie franchises not appearing on HD DVD or Blu-Ray? Seems like madness to me, wouldn't their release give a real boost to the HD formats?
Is Armageddon ever coming out, I thought Michael Bay was a HD DVD fan?

Re: What films are you waiting for on Blu-Ray ?

I saw Armagedon on Sky HD and thought the transfer was pretty poor to be honest - hope that is sorted for any future blu-ray release.

I don't think many of the big titles will be released until there are a lot more HD players in the homes of the average consumer and until a clear winner in the format war is deceided. It looks like Blu-Ray will have it wrapped up soon, how many people then go on to buy a blu-ray player though remains a mystery.

Until then I'll have to sit tight to wait for The Indy, Star Wars and LOTR trilogies.

Not sure where I read it (sorry!) or who it was talking about it (sorry again!) but Armageddon is supposed to need a lot of work doing to the master tapes to make it suitable for release on Blu-Ray. That might explain why it was such a poor HD transfer on Sky.

I always wondered why it never appeared on Blu-Ray at the same time as the likes of Con Air and The Rock.

Michael Bay quote;

Should Armageddon make it to Blu-ray, there may be even more work in store. Original materials were destroyed.

"Believe it or not, we have to remaster Armageddon,” he said. “The Armageddon [master] was burned in a fire apparently, so we’ve got to re-master the whole movie.”

This was the first ever DVD that I've bought back in 1998 so it will be appropriate to get this on BluRay as I had thought the picture transfer was the dogs danglies back then!

I'll never question if there is any justice in the World, ever again! If only the fire got all of Michael Bay's masters and him too

Me too. I originally had a 'flipper' version of it on DVD back in the day. The surround sound on it was superb as well.
