ConAir - Blu-Ray UK Version

Just a heads up, although this BD has excellent PQ and sound it is the previous UK cut version. In particular one very noticeable scene...when first loading the prisoners, the Guard is having trouble with one of them and says, "Gag and bag this Nazi MotherF....r". In the UK DVD and now BD edition, the dialogue is replaced as, "Gag and bag this Nazi Muffin."

Er, not quite the same impact. As the movie is 18 certificate and contains copious other swearing and violence including someone getting their head splattered, can't quite figure why this has been changed.

Answers on a postcard, please.

Re: ConAir - Blu-Ray UK Version

That is SOOOO poor

Can't believe we are getting cut / sensored versions ... what is that all about ?

That's the only down side of the region coding with Blu-ray and having to source UK dvd's.

Hope we don't see this become common on other releases !

Re: ConAir - Blu-Ray UK Version

Not to bothered about getting the Theactrical Version of the film, I didnt think the Unrated Version offered a great deal more, but I dont think there any cuts in the UK version. I wont lose any sleep over the Muffin word being stuck in.

Re: ConAir - Blu-Ray UK Version

I've had various editions of this classic action flick over the years, starting with the US laserdisc, and I've only ever heard Guard Falzon say "Gag and bag this Nazi muffin!".

IMDB have in thier memorable quotes section for Con Air:

"Guard Falzon: Gag and bag this Nazi muffin. "

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118880/quotes

& Script O Rama has it listed as Muffin also, http://www.script-o-rama.com/movie_s...ranscript.html

Re: ConAir - Blu-Ray UK Version

That's one of my favourite lines from the movie, actually. It's not every day you hear the words 'Nazi' and 'muffin' in the same sentence.

FYI the line is the same in the recent extended version too.

Does anyone know if this and the new "The Rock" releases are zone A aswell. The POTC releases are the same company and cover all zones.
Just wondering.

Re: ConAir - Blu-Ray UK Version

If you really want this movie, I suggest you wait for the US release, as it may well be the unrated edition

BUT ... with it being blu-ray, we may not be able to view it if its USA region coded & not compatible on UK players / PS3's !

Buena Vista's/Disney's recent output (including new titles) have been region free, so hopefully that won't have changed by the time they get around to releasing this!

Having seen both versions of this film, I have to say the Unrated Extended version offers little extra really, other than a money making excercise by BV

Re: ConAir - Blu-Ray UK Version

I quite like the extended version as it's not just footage shoe-horned back in. There are some interesting scene extensions/alterations too. Mind you, I don't care which version I get on HD.

Yet I can't see Disney releasing the extended version on BD in the States, simply because they've got to sell us the theatrical version first, then the double-dip will follow.

I really should pick this up.
