Planet Earth UK Blu-ray and HD-DVD release

According to play.com

http://www.play.com/DVD/HD%20DVD/4-/...t/Product.html

http://www.play.com/DVD/Blu-ray/4-/3...t/Product.html

The US release was only four discs so hopefully our version will come with extras.

my advice is go with blu ray....

however if you have either player now you can order them straight away from www.playusa.com.

it is REALLY annoying how the BBC have released it in America first on the HD formats though... our ruddy tax paying money funded that series!!!

The DVD was released here 6 month before the US DVD. It would have made no sense to release the Hi Def version here first as it would have made a much smaller impact. The Hi Def market is obviously much larger in the States and it the it was released there at the same time as the DVD releaseso created a bigger buzz.

Got to agree you would think that The British Broadcasting Corporation would show a bit of Patriotism and release in the UK first.

Re: Planet Earth UK Blu-ray and HD-DVD release

I always thought the reason for the European delay was waiting until an upgrade was available for players to handle 50hz discs.
