Planet Earth Blu Ray - "Flashing" blacks

I've started to watch Planet Earth on my Panasonic 50PH9 today playing through a PS3 and have noticed on quite a few scenes where blacks are "flashing".

Thought it might be a disc problem at first but just moved onto the second disc and still very noticeable.

Has anyone else noticed it? I would like to try to work out whether its a disc, PS3 or Plasma issue but this is the first time i've ever noticed it so im assuming its disc at the moment.

Still looks bloody great though

Yeah, I've noticed this on occasional shots too. If anyone else wants to check it out, go to the Angel Falls flyover scene. Every 14th frame there is a flash of noise especially noticable in the shadow areas. I think (and hope!) that this was a camera or post production fault as most of Planet Earth is fine, and I've not seen this on any other Blu-ray films.

Re: Planet Earth Blu Ray - "Flashing" blacks

I saw the same effect when I was watching the same fly-over in the "Fresh Water" section. I actually sent a set of discs back to Amazon.com because I thought there was an issue with the discs. When I got the replacement discs I noticed the same effect.

I have a Panasonic DMP-BD35 Blu-Ray, and a Samsung LN46A500.

I too am glad I'm not the only one seeing this with Planet Earth.

I have have seen this on several of the aerial (?) shots, and I put it down to (don't laugh). . . possibly helicopter blades causing interuptions/slight colour changes.

The reason I say this as it only ever happens in the aerial shots, over the falls, etc. I never see it in any other scenes etc.
