The Prestige

This comes out in the UK next Monday on both HD DVD and Blu Ray.

Does anyone have any details on the audio codec used and the extras on the disc.

If the audio is not True HD and the extras are scant, i think i'll just go for the US BD which have a uncompressed LCM audio track

Re: The Prestige

True HD is a possibility because it's released by Warners.
Actually, so is PCM.

Re: The Prestige

My Play.com pre-order of the HD DVD hasn't processed yet. The listing just says "awaiting delivery of stock" so when it will arrive is anyone's guess.

Re: The Prestige

Aw, I was waiting to get this on HD-DVD, too - not having a Blu-Ray player, I was chuffed to hear that it would be released on HD-DVD in Europe.

That said, I didn't preorder it because Play have never had any artwork up for the disc (which surely they should have by now?), and Movietyme have never listed it for sale on HD-DVD.

I suppose the question I have now is, has someone at the BDA or the relevant studio managed to put the brakes on The Prestige being released on HD-DVD? I really hope not!

Amazon.co.uk claim to have this in stock so I've just ordered it and cancelled my Play.com order. I'll soon find out if it's for real...

Re: The Prestige

My pre-order from HMV.co.uk arrived this morning,
but I won't be able to check it out 'til tonight.

For anyone interested the audio listed on the back cover is Dolby Digital Plus: English 5.1
DDP: Castilian, French, German 5.1
Audio Descriptive Service 2.0

Ditto!

Play.com also didn't have stock of Brotherhood of the Wolf (released last week), which I have pre-ordered from them.

Re: The Prestige

In the absence of a True HD track or any significant extra's I will pick this up on Blu Ray.

I was suprised my local HMV had this when Play do not seem to as yet.

The UK Blu-Ray release only has Dolby Digital 5.1 while the US release has a PCM soundtrack. The US release IS region coded.

I am puzzled that the US release is region coded as I though it was Warner and that they do not region code. It is not listed on Movietyme as UK PS3 playable therefore that suggests it is region coded, as already stated.

Incidentally, the HDDVD version is also only DD5.1 .

It seems a criminal omission to me for BD given the capacity and favour shown for the US release.

Its distributed by Warner in the UK.

In the US it is a Disney title- hence its BD only in the US
