Bortherhood of the Wolf shipped (from HMV)

Got home to an e-mail so say that HMV have finally shipped my HD DVD of Brotherhood of the Wolf. This is one title (next to The Big Lebowski) that I am really waiting for...

I agree, I too can't wait to see this in HD. Mine shipped from sendit yesterday. So hopefully I won't have to wait too long.

I would not expect any movement until Tuesday- it is a Bank Holiday after all.

Agreed mind you- if its not shipped by Wednesday I will cancel.

Re: Bortherhood of the Wolf shipped (from HMV)

Despite the cover mistakenly saying that the runtime is 134 minutes, apparently this IS the 150 mins Director's Cut !!!

Can anyone confirm ?

Re: Bortherhood of the Wolf shipped (from HMV)

I ordered it at ChoicesUK.com using a discount code to bring it down to £12.59 but that's no consolation while Choices are still waiting for stock.

I've spoken to Amazon, they say they have the HD-DVD in stock, but they cannot sell it until September/October as that is the official release date for the film.

I've since cancelled my order and re-ordered from Sendit...

God Amazon are useless- i'm tempted to do the same- though my £11 price point is the best I have seen.

It's definitely still got the wolves being shot along with the bit with the wolf being turned into the beast. Those were the bits that were cut out of the UK dvd and cinema releases aye?

I have ordered mine from Moviesandgamesonline.co.uk, they have a Google Chckout option.

I bought BOTW and Mullholland Drive for under £22 delivered with the £10 off a £30 spend using GC

Re: Bortherhood of the Wolf shipped (from HMV)

picked up my copy today, can confirm it is the directors/uncut version, got the naked womans dead corpse, as well as the blood coming out of the guys mouth when he is hit with the stick in the first fight.

Trouble is the film is tricky to play with Power DVD ultra and Anydvd HD, my monitor supports HDCP but the PC does not, cannot change the graphics card as it is onboard Nvidia 6150.

Can barely get the film to play back let alone the subtitles to work, not tried using the 360 yet though..PQ wise nothing great as the source was really grainy..., sound is DTS-HD Master Audio, compared to standard 5.1 DTS cannot really tell the difference, mostly cause of the enhanced sound efects used for the film, i.e a punch sound like a gunshot.. over the top sound effects I guess... but never the less finally got the film with the BEST PQ and Uncut, so can't complain...

Running time 150 Minutes according ot power dvd, 134 on the back of the box....

Re: Bortherhood of the Wolf shipped (from HMV)

I finally got enough time to watch this last night. My own fault for starting watching a film at 10pm on a Sunday but once it started I couldn't stop.

There are some very obvious places in the film, especially in the conversation scenes indoors, where poor camera work / focus really shows up and I did not like the way the black levels looked very much like an SD release, but apart from those two the film was both creatively and technically excellent to my eyes and ears.

If you liked Pan's Labyrinth and watched it with the subtitles, then you will probably like this one Not quite that simple a comparison (not at all), but it's fantasy horror in a foreign language...
