DVD Pacific

I've noticed that DVD Pacific's prices seem much cheaper than movietyme's but I wanted to know what there service is like?

Do they add postage when shipping to the UK and are there custom charges?

Yes there e shipping charges, cheap though - about 1.50 for 10-14 day suface mail.

Yourun the risk of customs though if ordering over £18. Sinle DVDs will not incur any customs

Re: DVD Pacific

cheers for the info. Think I'll stick with movietyme though as they can get stuff out in a day or two normally.

Re: DVD Pacific

Think their cheapest shipping price has gone up to around £2 now

Still cheaper than MT though for most discs.

Course if you're in a hurry for discs then you won't mind paying the extra £1 or so that MT charge.

They charge £1 extra everytime you pay for an order with your credit/debit card. Stopped using them because I got sick of everything I ordered being held up at customs. When you add Price+delivery+£1 card charge it works out around the same as MT!

You'll probably find thats a charge imposed by your cc company for a foreign transaction. DVDPacific have no way of charging you that £1 on your orders. Their shipping rates have gone up by 50 cents recently though

Re: DVD Pacific

I used them a few times now and found there service is very good. Dvd's take about 7days but that doesn't bother me as I still got dvd's that I've had for a month or so and still haven't watched.

I have never been charged any extra on my Credit Cardstatement than whats on my invoice. My only advice on that £1 charge is to change your credit card ???

Re: DVD Pacific

I always got charged more on my card, I think some banks charge a set fee and some just use their own Exchange rate. Most HD I bought were about $24 which about £12.50 accoring to XE (before we had $2=£1!!) and I would be charged nearer £13.

Re: DVD Pacific

I am with Nationwide who dont charge you any extra for buying in a different currency and all my orders have been within a few pence of what XE said when I ordered.

Re: DVD Pacific

Ditto

The CC company will usually lower the xchange rate by a few cents to what the real time rate is.

IE Purchase at DVD Pacific for $24 which at one time maybe £12 (say 2/1)

Card will be charged at say 1.97/1 exchange rate so the actual cost might be £12.20.

Re: DVD Pacific

On DVD Pacific I always change the currancy to GBP British Pound before I start. I can't be bothered to try and work it out myself. So this is the price that is usual charged to my Credit Card give or take a few pence.

Re: DVD Pacific

If I order something in dollars with my Halifax card, I get charged a £1.50 fee. With my Nationwide card I just have a good old conversion and no extra fee.

I usually order from movietyme, as I just like my discs to arrive quickly.

Re: DVD Pacific

I don't order from dvd pacific anymore due to the prices. On face value they look cheap, but take into account conversions, shipping and then the dreaded CC markup and they're pretty much the same price as MT. Worth using though if your CC company doesn't charge you an additional fee

Hi Smurf

That pretty much sums it up.

I've never seen an additional charge on the cards i've used (Barclaycard and Egg) and so have ordered a few things from them as i'm not to bothered about receiving items ASAP.

Generally 50p-£2 cheaper than MT.

Every little helps
