Thought it may be worthwhile having a thread to keep track of the HD-DVD discs that people are experiencing issues with and what players they affect. Here is the info that I have collated so far, please feel free to add your issues and I will update the first thread.

You can add the E1 to both Children Of Men & Hollywoodland, only issues I have had so far

Added. Have you upgraded to v1.5 firmware? I read that this helped some people with playback issues (and not others).

No, I havent yet Will do so and give Hollywod a try and report back (still waiting on replacement COM!)

There is no v 1.5 for the E1 current v1.3 so far am under the impresson v1.5 is for u.s. machines only

Erm yeah I knew that, just testing I'm sure it'll be along shortly for the UK models, I'm just ahead of my time

Either way I hope that there is a firmware fix for all models to get rid of the troublesome discs.

They better come up with some software for this problem with Universal combos soon.

Apparently Microsoft have acknowldged a firmware issue with this title and it will be fixed in the next firmware update (for which we continue not to hold our breath)

Stalingrad (French release) HD-DVD shows error code on my updated E1.

Children of men worked fine.

I have problem with Friday Night Lights on my E1 however it plays fine on 360's add on.

EDIT Also watched Enemy at the Gates (Stalingrad) a few days ago on the XE1 (firmware 1.3) with no issues. Went through all the extras, paused the film for maybe 8 minutes, rewound and fast-forwarded etc. Couldn't get it to fail

I've had problems with Smokin' aces on my Xbox 360 player, it just stopped playing, failing to read the disc.

I had this problem with my 360 drive and managed to fix it by making sure the "U Control" interactive feature was disabled.

relentless enemies won't play on my HD-E1 it just freezes the player after it reads the disc
my 360 hd drive won't even read the disc so I guess the HD-E1 is going a step further though


update: now works on the HD-E1 after downloading v1.5 software.

Damn, finally got round to watching my copy of Chilrden of Men (on an XE1) and it stopped working after around chapter 15 I've tried re-inserting and sometimes it doesn't even load up. The best result I have had is it working perfectly up to around ch15 then nothing....... And I live in the UK and imported the disc so I doubt I'll get it replaced.......

Ok I'll try that even though I managed to see 99% of it before giving up.

Add Smokin Aces to Xbox360, seems to take an age to load and then it doesn't always load. Freezing in menus too. Bit hit and miss this. Tried other discs with 'U Control' and they work fine. Maybe its the disc, will try on friends drive tomorrow. Get an error saying can't read disc. I have disabled U Control and it still has problems sometimes.

Updated my E1 with v1.5 tonight and did a quick check on Friday Night Lights and looks like problem is solved .

Having trouble with Smoking Aces and The Hitcher, both dual format discs, on my Xbox360 HD DVD player.

Just says 'reading' and nothing else.

Anyone found a way round this?

Someone mentioned disabling the U-Control but can't even access that as movies won't play at all!
