HD-DVD menus

I have only got a few HD DVDs so far but i've noticed on the Warner ones it just goes straight into the movie rather than going onto a main menu. I really dont like this as i'd rather choose all my settings and then start the film rather than fumbling around trying to choose the sound format using the silly loud PSHT PSHT menus.

Can I get a hell yeah?

No. You just get a question asking why you haven't mentioned pressing the PAUSE button, selecting your preferred options, then resuming play again, as an acceptable way to work with the WB discs

Fair enough. I just find it a bit of a stuttering start to watching a film. I prefer to get everything ready then press play and watch. Especially with the super loud, and rather slow, menu noises. Although to be fair that could be down the the 360 add-on. I just wonder why they decided to change what is standard on DVD. If it aint broke etc...

Re: HD-DVD menus

using the standalone player I can just hit the audio button on the remote and that changes the soundtrack on the fly, without needing the menu! Can you do this on the xbox using the remote?

Re: HD-DVD menus

Hmm don't think so. I can't tell for sure as the 360 is all packed up (3 red lights again) but the remote doesnt seem to have a corresponding button. Shame really as a quick flick of that would preferable to the menu navigation.

Re: HD-DVD menus

Going straight into the film is better than having to sit through the, "You wouldn't steal a car" or the loads of film ads you get on Walt Disney DVDs.

Re: HD-DVD menus

I've never understood the ad anyway. It's anti-piracy and starts off by saying you wouldn't steal a car.

Maybe a few of us would if we could go round to a neighbour and say "Nice car mate. Mind if I have a copy?"

Yeah nice Range Rover mate. Can I have a virtually identical copy for a pound?

Re: HD-DVD menus

Compared to the SD DVD forced ads and "if you copy this DVD then you're a mass-murdering baby killer and we'll fine you £250.000,00 and lock you up for 20 years" intimidation tactics that you cannot skip through, I don't at all mind the various HD DVD logos and menus, or lack thereof on WB.
