HD-DVD Standard Definition software

I couldnt see any software particular area - so mods please move this if need be.

I was sitting down to watch Leathal Weapon 2 on HD-DVD last night and a casual look at the back made me take a step back

This is what I read:

Video : 1080p Standard Definition

Thinking about this for a second I got confused as surely this is impossible (either its 1080p or its SD, it surely cant be both)

Checking on the back of other Warner Bros discs I have (unfortunately none from around the same initial release time of LW2) all the others (about 3 other discs) clearly say 1080p High Definition - so it isnt just a wording mistake on the cover to my mind.

I also have to say that while it could just be the age of the film stock, the actual film on viewing was only as good as a decent DVD copy certainly nothing that jumped out at me and said wowwwww like a number of other HD-DVD's I have.

I wonder if anyone else has seen this film on HD-DVD and noticed anything - or any other HD software that states "standard definition" as a feature?

Re: HD-DVD Standard Definition software

It's got to be a mistake. As you say it's got to be one or the other, I think this was a problem DVD as well in that it was letterbox rather than anamorphic.
