Superman HD DVD

Hi there. I am thinking of building up a collection of some relatively older films on HD DVD. I have read on here that Rambo : First Blood is a very good transfer and that is on my wish list and also read on another forum that Superman is a good transfer. Does anyone who owns Superman agree with that ? What is it like ?

These type of films on HD really appeal to me for watching with the family (Well maybe not Rambo for the littln's yet ). The idea of T2 with Arnie in all it's HD goodness coming out soon is something i look forward to

Re: Superman HD DVD

I can't speak for the Superman HDDVD, but First Blood I thought was a pretty good transfer (although I note that the reviewer in AVForums gave the PQ a 5). I thought that a bit harsh, as the film was made in 1981 and despite the forest scene it was pretty much spot on for me given its age.

Thanks. Yeah I think I read a listing on AVS forums and Rambo: First Blood was rated as a good transfer and the best of the 3 Rambo's on HD DVD. I guess there are so many variables with peoples set up etc. and no way as straight forward than when we were rating SD DVD's on our Trusty CRT's not so long ago.

Re: Superman HD DVD

If you want Superman Returns get the UK version (If you dont like double sided discs) safer for the disc

Re: Superman HD DVD

I bought Superman: The Movie on Friday but I've only skimmed through it so far. What I've seen is pretty good though considering the age of the film.
