Zavvi have been extra quick at delivery - received my blu ray today and at £13.95. Well pleased.

I knew somebody would say that.
Will be having a Pirates marathon next week, watching 1 to 4 over 4 nights next week. Just love em all (so far).

I got my steelbook from HMV today (not the 3D version, thank you very much!). I haven't seen it at the cinema but despite the diminishing quality of each movie in the original trilogy, they were at least entertaining to watch and nice to look at plus Johnny Depp's Jack Swallow character steals every scene he's in. I'm very much looking forward to seeing it in glorious 2D.

Not bothered with the 3D version of this one. Let me know what you thought of it though mate.

Noticed the 3D version is only DTS-HD HR not MA. Not tried it yet though.

Amazon dispatch mine on Wednesday and looking forward to seeing it again, saw it at the cinema in 3D. The 3D wasn't that good and came out thinking that it added nothing that I'd have missed watching in 2D

Not if you can't see it properly, it isn't! All 3D movies so far have given me headaches and I hate the glasses. Sorry but I'll be one of those that will never embrace 3D unless I'm absolutely forced to.

Besides, I've heard that interest in 3D is on the decline at the cinema, no doubt brought on my the poor quality of many of the movies and the higher cinema ticket price, and at home due to the lack of available content (mostly kid-friendly cartoons/CGI features, pointless 3D sports and rubbishy horror movies). Personally, I think its days are numbered but I'm sure it'll be back like it was in the 1950s and 1980s. Maybe when it comes back it'll have improved to the point where we don't need glasses, it doesn't give me headaches and I can actually see the damn thing!!!

Didn't they say that in the eighties?

I haven't upgraded my Pirates box set to Blu-ray just yet but it will happen. Actually, a recent viewing of the third one found me liking it. My favourite is still the second movie but At World's End - despite being too long - isn't the turkey I once thought it was.

Yeah maybe but will give it a miss in 3d and 2d. I wasn't that impressed I'm afraid with the 3d effects or the movie.

seen the 3d trailer for potc4 on tron blu-ray and the 3d looked pretty good

Received my copy from TheHut on Thursday but only just got round to watching it, not as good as the first but easily my second fav.

Shame it's got next to no extras, apparently the US 3D release has a 2nd BD just for extras, does our 3D release also have the bonus disc?

I've got the UK 3D and the extras are on the 2D copy so probably same as yours, next to nothing. I've not watched it yet though.

I watched this yesterday afternoon and thought it was a little disappointing but it still managed to entertain for the most part, thanks mostly to Johnny Depp who continues to steal every scene he's in. The plot seemed a bit tired and predictable though (I kept being reminded of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade toward the end) and the dialogue isn't anywhere near as witty as in the earlier movies. The transfer and audio are also very good but the lack of extras compared with the original trilogy is severely underwhelming, more so as Disney are usually superb in this area. Personally, I'd have rather have had a second disc full of bonus features/extras rather than a DVD copy of the movie.

The only way to get the bonus BD disc in the US is to buy the 3D release so its not just us that gets shafted lol

At least we got it a month before them.

Got this from Amazon on Friday. Surprising good service considering I didn't even order it and haven't been charged for it. Not sure what's going on there, but I'm not complaining.
Its not actually that bad a film. I prefer it over 2 and 3, but its not as good as the first.

My lovefilm rental came today.

Fell asleep watching this at the cinema a couple of times so should fill in the blanks for the bits that i missed.

Nowhere near as good as the first film for me and more on par with the 2nd and third.

3d projector looked very good, too many dark scenes and a few cheesy effects that didn't work

The movie and the Blu-ray (2D) are all a bit meh, but that wasn't the worst couple of hours I've spent in front of my TV. Loved the bit at the end: "you need someone to go like this" (wiggles fingers).

No playback problems on my Philips 7500.
