If Day of the Daleks makes enough money, then they might well put some extra time in on Death to...

As for who the reviews are for, follow the link below for an example:

Doctor Who: Paradise Towers - DVDActive/Reviews

Really looking forward to seeing Day of the Daleks, as the new additions will probably help hammer home just how good it is, eliminating the whinging about lack of budgets and small-scale alien invasion.

Any idea why 4 seconds was missing from the VHS release? Surely not censors at work?

Just joined.

This is what ive heard from gb forum classicdw twitter page and dr who online

The end boxset is only a rumour that has been flying around for 2 years and its always been denied by the Restoration team. I very much doubt its happning.

Shada will be paired with something but its very doubtful its nightmare on eden. Classicdw twitter page has said a trailer for nightmare in eden has been done but as there was no mention of shada i doubt its getting paired with nightmare.

After revisitations 3 and vengance on varos there are no plans for any more special edition reissues.

UNIT box set is apparently the next release after colony in space and most likely be released january and the set wont have Ambassadors of death and mind of evil due to the rstoration work required. It probably wont have daemons or zygons due to them certified classics and being a better single seller.
Which leaves android invasion and invasion of the dinosaurs. Both extras were done about the same time plus episode 1 of dinosaurs has rumoured to have been recoloured.

This is what the 2012 release order is rumoured to look like (based on the order of dvd extras was done and the line up date wise this year and 3 week gaps between releases. Prob wont be exact but most likely will look like that. Also put potential release dates in brackets.)

January
1.Unit box (android/dinosaurs) (9)
2.nightmare on eden (30)
February
1.Sensorites (13)
March
1.Ace tales (dragonfire/happieness)(5)
2.Revisitations 3 (26)
April
1.Face Of evil (16)
May
1.Daemons (7) (even though i think 30 april is more apt)
2.Death of the daleks (28)
June
1.Krotons (18)
July
1.Vengance on varos (9)
2.Greatest show in the galaxy (30)
August
1.Terror of the zygons (20)
September
1.reign of terror/planet of giants (10)

Welcome and thanks for the info. So when might we see Ambassadors of death, mind of evil or shada? Or any of the other stories rumoured to be completed with animation (like ice warriors)?

Well, just got Day of the Daleks from Mr Postie this morning, and am working on the copious extras as we speak. The copious CGI effects really have freshened things up, with the Daleks not looking as awkward and shop-worn as they did - plenty of grey/blue ones to go around this time.

The new laser effects are pretty cool, as the transitions. This is a pretty damn good package, complete with a rather nice featurette on how the mid can play tricks on you - the whole reason for the overhaul of Day of the Daleks!

Sounds good, I want this but usually wait for price drop on new releases, might not be able to this time!

Same here. It's one of my favourites and I'm keen to see this new version. I was in Asda yesterday and they had the name Day Of The Daleks under the The Sun Makers DVD. I had a good look around in the hope it was on the shelves some where but it wasn't there.

Zombie Twin is the original version on the DVD?

Disc 1 contains the original cut, the second disc has the special edition. Both discs contain a decent amount of unique extras, which I am currently going through right now for review purposes.

AVForum poster Zombie Twin 2 is working on the review of the stories themselves (both edits) and we'll have it ready for posting whenever we have worked through the discs and given it enough attention.

BTW, certain technical goofs and actor fluffs have been taken out of the special edition, but kept as nature intended on the broadcast copy.

With Asda having Day Of The Daleks and you getting it the other day I thought it was coming out today. I was very disappointed to find out it's not out for another 5 weeks. Still I've ordered last year's series on Blu for less than £30 from Amazon.

It is definitely worth the wait, as the story really has been given a superb freshen-up, and the new effects are pretty damn cool. The extras are exhaustive, with the whole package more than you would have ever expected.

Bolts will be shot when watching, we'll guarantee you!

How are the new Nick Briggs Dalek voices, Zombie Twin? Do they fit in well with the new special edition effects etc?

I think I might even pre-order Day of Daleks.

Is colony any good? Its story sound familiar so I may have read the book (a long time ago), but I have never seen it.

I was hoping for at least Ark in Space and Earthshock to get SE treatment, I will wait a bit more but if true I will eventually pick up the original releases.

It's quite a while since I last saw it but as I recall it wasn't one of Pertwee's best.

He is not doing his usual "Ext-errrrrrr-minated" Dalek voice, but has made a conscious effort to immitate the ones from back in the day. The results are really cool, and fit in perfectly with everything else. It makes the Daleks the Nazi-like b**tards everyone remembers them being, rather than the pathetic examples which went out with Day of the Daleks at the time.

Are you aware that The Ark in Space and Earthshock did get some SE treatment? I thought the new CGI effects on The Ark in Space fitted in really well - although the new efects were mainly (or exclusively) limited to Nerva and the rocket. I haven't watched Earthshock for quite a long time, but I know the new ray effects were done as a selectable option.

I was not aware of that. Is there a list of which titles have new CGI?

Ones I'm aware of (now) are:

Dalek invasion of Earth
Death to daleks
Ark in space
Earthshock
5 Doctors

Other SEs I'm aware of, but not sure whether the SE was effects or simply a longer / shorter version:

Battlefield
Enlightenment
Remembrance of daleks
The movie

I'm not sure if there's a list somewhere, as I don't really frequent Doctor Who forums, although I'd be surprised if there didn't exist a list. This is the sort of info that was easily obtained from the old Restoration Team website, that is sadly no longer with us. I'll happily look at some of my DVD titles to see, but I do know that The Time Warrior and Destiny of the Daleks have CGI effects.

I'm fairly confident that none of the DVDs have extra effects as the default option. I think they did a very good job with The Time Warrior and Destiny of the Daleks. Admittedly, some stories have more new effects than others, and from what's been reported - and Zombie Twin's post - I get the impression that Day of the Daleks has a lot of extras, quite a comprehensive package. I didn't get the chance last night to study my collection in details, but I'm also quite confident that the following stories also have new effects:-

The Invasion of Time
The Invisible Enemy
Revelation of the Daleks

I think that with the the above stories, most of the new efefcts are gun rays - although I think they re-did the Vardans and some of the scenes where the Vardans are getting ready for their invasion. With The Invisible Enemy, a scene was re-built where on the originally transmitted story, K9 fires his ray at a wall that's clearly already broken. This has been cleverly re-done, and K9 fires at the wall that then falls down - as was originally intended.

Of course, with these new effects, we're not even entering the area of new optional 5.1 soundtracks, which some stories also have.

I remember the K9 wall scene - although thought wrongly it was in sun makers. I heard they had to re-shoot the scene and didn't have time to cover over the crack. Vardans were awful too so glad they have been updated.

I will have to start looking out for these extra effects.

yes that's right.

I remember looking at the "new" cgi & I stuck with the original if memory serves
