Another sloppy Optimum release...

Steven Seagals "The Keeper" has a detailed description on the back of the box describing the movie about an L.A. cop going to the rescue of an old friend in Romania who's daughter has a boyfriend who plays for the Romanian 'Tornadoes' football team...'Roland (Seagal) learns that after the fall of communism in Romania, the gangs have become more powerful than ever'....
This is a bit bizarre as the movie is actually set in New Mexico, which I believe is in the USA, not Romania, and the boyfriend is a local boxer- not a footballer for the Romania 'Tornadoes' football team....
....seems like Craptimum is not just incredibly sloppy with their blu-ray transfers...now it seems they can't even get the movie synopsis right on the box...
(oh, this disc is certainly not a 'keeper'....truly awful!!)

In fairness to EIV, they seem to be cleaning up their act. I read somewhere that they will release blu-rays in 1080p if the U.S. release is also 1080p...(for example, previously they released "The Reader" in 1080i even though the U.S. version was 1080p).
They also recently fixed the missing Dolby TrueHD audio on 'Snakes On A Plane'.
Still, I find myself a not being able to trust the tech specs on the back of the box though!

I'm genuinely perplexed by the amount of anti-Optimum venom we get at these forums.

Most of their releases are very good indeed, and when things go wrong it can usually be put down to problems outside of Optimum's control, such as masters being made elsewhere and bought in by them for BD release.

They're a small company, sometimes releasing titles that no one else would touch.

Their recent BD of Gomorrah (a 'difficult'-looking film if there ever was one) looks every bit as good as the much lauded Criterion release (and is massively cheaper), Pan's Labyrinth, In the Loop, The Host, Son of Rambow, Eden Lake, This is England, Persepolis, these are some of the best Blu-ray Discs out there.

I agree with you- they have had some good releases- Gomorrah is excellent-I also own that one. They just seem to be so inconsistant!
