Optimum Coco before Chanel

Picked up Coco Before Chanel today- from the awful Craptimum Home Entertainment...its another BD25 disc but at least they splashed out on a fancy cardboard slipcase with the money they saved using BD25 discs instead of BD50. woooohoooo!!!!!!
I couldn't decide who were worse- Entertainment In Video or Optimum..but it is now without doubt Optimum. EIV seem to be doing things right now and even recently offered free replacements for Snakes On A Plane after it was released missing the Dolby TrueHD audio.
The back of the Coco blu-ray box states BD25/HD Standard 1080p...I think this should say sub-Standard...at least they are good enough to include dts-HD audio!
Will be interesting to see if Warner Bros use a BD50 disc when this is released Stateside.

Did EiV offer free replacements? I thought they issued a statement saying 'take them back to the point of sale'?

What exactly do you feel is wrong with the transfer? Is it because it's soft? I've no idea if it looked like that at the cinema. I'm not sure the BD25 has much to do with it given the fact it's less than two hours in length and only has a few extras. It's perfectly possible to achieve good results on a BD25.

Did they at least include english subs

optimum really are one of the worst publishers out there, especially for including subs in their releases. It's a shame they are so bad since they have so many great films in their catalogue

I called EIV, spoke to a nice lady and she mailed me a 'fixed' copy of snakes with the missing Dolby TrueHD...I was then able to return my original copy to HMV as I didn't have to mail it to EIV...and swapped it for something else, so I escentially got Snakes for free- makes up for the disappointment I felt after I bought the 1080i blu-ray of "The Reader".
The transfer of Coco actually looks ok and audio is dts HD with english subs...but I'm not sure what someones definition of 'good results' or 'looks ok' is...
I just feel we are not getting everything Blu-ray is capable of with a BD25 disc...if the movie was less compressed using a BD50 disc and then projected onto a 100" screen I think its fair to say it might look better?....
And maybe having the extras in HD might be possible with a disc with more storage?....
The point is, Optimum are continuing to use the cheaper BD25 discs to save money...and the cheeky buggars don't always pass on the savings to the customers- actually I don't care about the savings..if I was I'd still be watching dvd.
BD50, MPEG4- AVC I think is the best blu-ray can get, right??

Yes English subs are included but I don't think you can turn them off (in case you speak French and would prefer to watch the movie that way).
