Amazon .com have been advertising a possible future release of the original BBC version for months.Anything concrete on this? I'd really love to feast my eyes on this glorious masterpiece.

I didn't know the BBC ever did an adaptation of Brideshead Revisited. I think that link is referring to the ITV one (with Jeremy Irons and Anthony Andrews).

Would be good to see it get a Blu-Ray release.

Either way it would be good to see it released on Blu-Ray. According to IMDB it was filmed on 16mm film so it might be possible to carry out a restoration similar to the BBC Pride & Prejudice one?

....and according to BBC connected sources they were not impressed with the restoration of P&P enough to sanction further 16mm material on Bluray....at the moment.

Also - be aware that if the Granada version of Brideshead is released on Bluray by ITV DVD it is likely to be cropped to 16:9 just like Thunderbirds , and ITV have also ruined UFO on their HD masters too.

But one would hope the negative feedback for Thunderbirds might get them to change their mind.

However , 16mm on Bluray = waste of money.
See the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Life On Mars (although LOM was not fully restored like P&P)

If Network are releasing Brideshead then it should be 4:3

The Amazon link says Acorn media. Their dvd's are often disappointing and overpriced - don't think we've had any Blu from them so far
