I believe it to be bad, but can't remember why. The Oz version is the one to go for.

You can't remember why? It only came out in the UK...

Re: UK Descent Blu good or bad PQ?

Watched the UK version of Descent on blu-ray at the weekend and I found the PQ to be excellent, a big upgrade on the SD dvd I have of it.

Oz version was deemed better than the US version, although I understand that there were two releases in the US. One of these had better PQ than the other. Sorry I don't know much more about it, but there will definitely be a thread about it here somewhere.

I've "got" the new UK release, however, I won't get to watch it until 25/12/09

Re: UK Descent Blu good or bad PQ?

No matter what version you get, i doubt you'll be disappointed.

I have the "inferior" MPEG2 US copy yet I still found the PQ to be superb.

There are some comparisons around of the various versions. From memory, there's a significant colour difference between some of the versions.

The movie is absolutely fantastic so i'd say just pull the trigger, pick it up and worry not

Re: UK Descent Blu good or bad PQ?

If I remember rightly, the AUS & UK BD's have the supposedly 'correct' darker colour with deeper reds etc in the underground scenes. Both the US versions have the more realistic but not stylised colour
I've seen both the UK and US BD's and liked both. I own the US AVC BD and am perfectly happy with that. I may get the UK version eventually too for the different colour.
I never saw it at the cinema so don't know which is correct. The UK DVD had the darker, redder colour that the UK & AUS BD exhibits
whichever one you get its a cracking movie
