Moon

Just finished watching "Moon" on Blu-Ray. Wasn't sure this would be my kind of film given all the "low budget indie" labels. How wrong I was!

Thought it was one of the most amazing, intelligent science fiction films I've seen. And it looks gorgeous.

Incredible to hear that it cost USD5 million (cf "Sunshine" which cost USD 50 million!)

HIGHLY recommended, and one you're going to want to revisit after first viewing.

Re: Moon

Agree about the film - one of my top five of the year and definitely the best slice of sci-fi for years. Looking forward to picking up the Blu-ray myself.

I will be getting the Blu Ray from Lovefilm on Monday. Looking quite forward to it. I hope it isn't too weird despite being Directed by David Bowies son Zowie (took the wise thing and changed his name).

It says 'A,B,C' on the back of the case so it's probably safe to assume it is.

Re: Moon

Wonderful, wonderful film - definitely one of my top 10 of 2009. I'll be very surprised (and disappointed) if Rockwell doesn't get an Oscar nomination for this.

As expected from Sony, the Blu-ray is lovely with solid PQ & AQ and a nice selection of extras....and it also comes with a rather nice slip-sleeve.

Re: Moon

It has one of the best soundtracks I've heard this year. Proof positive that subtle tracks can be just as effective as explosions and what not.

Couldn't agree more. Watched it last night and was very impressed with both the film and soundtrack. Will go and pick up the soundtrack this weekend.

I have to admit, for the first 20 minutes or so I was worried 'Moon' was little more than a 'Solaris' clone what with the similar tone and soundtrack (to the Soderbergh version, at least). Thankfully, it becomes a lot more interesting and engrossing as it progresses and is ultimately an enjoyable and very rewatchable film.

However, I think the critics who are putting it on a level with '2001: A Space Odyssey' are over-rating it just a tad!

I agree.

I guess expectations were low given the "son of David Bowie" tag of the director(and fact that financing came from Sting's wife - friend of rich daddy and all that). Fact is he wrote and directed an above-average, excellent film.

2001 is over rated.

Did anyone think of the auto pilot in Wall-E when they first saw Gerty?

Watched this last night, great film, certainly had a feel of many of the films mentioned above.

I'd go as far as saying if you don't own this, then you're not a fan of science fiction.

Get it bought this instant!

Can't really add much more than what has been said, brilliant, intelligent and thought provoking film. Sam Rockwell is a brilliant actor, it is just such a shame I could not get to see it on the big screen.

Can confidently say its the best film I have ever seen with Chesney Hawks on the soundtrack!

Agree totally.
One of the best Blu-Rays of the year for me.
A Sci-Fi's dream.
I know a load will hate it as it's not Transformers2, but i really enjoyed it, and Sam Rockwell was brilliant.
9/10 for me.

Agree, thought it was a great film, loved the miniatures, glad it wasn't all cgi, thought the soundtrack was beautiful as well.
