Thinking of jumping the Lovefilm ship?

I am getting thoroughly hacked off with Lovefilm at the moment what with new releases unavailable for rental, waiting months to get any new BD release and almost every DVD arriving needing cleaning or just scratched to death and not playing properly.

The only obvious alternative is Blockbuster. Any BB users out there that can testify their service is better than Lovefilm?

I'd be very interested to know.

Ran BB and LF membership at the same time this summer found BB to be better, no throttling, day of release blu rays as well as early release of some titles (such as gran torino).

BB is streets ahead of LF in my opinion. Blu-rays, including recent releases, are available faster from BB than LF. More importantly, the condition of the discs I've had from BB is much, much better than LF. Scratched and damaged discs are a real pet hate of mine!

Also, I signed up to BB through quidco and got £7.50 cash back and two vouchers for instore rentals

Excellent service!

I switched a couple of days after starting the thread. Figured it couldn't be much worse.

Since then I have received the BD's of Benjamin Button, Watchmen and Let the Right One In, which I have been waiting an age for from LF. Also already had Terminator:Salvation BD. A brand new release shipped on the day of release, very rare with LF.

I'll wait and see over the next few months to get a fairer idea but at the moment

BB seems better than LF as far as the rental service is concerned. Better selection and availability of new releases. However, LF offers a nice multi-list system which is better than BB's Movie Mix IMO, and overall just a much better web-site.

I'm surprised BB doesn't push its online rental service more, but I'm assuming it's difficult for them being stuck between a rock and a hard place: they don't want to take business away from their retail stores but they also need to compete with LF at the same time.

They actually encorage you to go into their brick shops, with various vouchers.
