Recommended US internet Blu ray retailers

It's nearly Christmas and I happen to know Santa is bringing me a Blu ray player This means I need to get my relatives online buying me something to watch on it. Could forum members please recommend me some good US Blu ray sites that are cheap, reliable and ship to the UK?

Thanks

You can never go wrong with amazon and I recently bought Monsters Vs Aliens from movietyme.com and it was fantastically fast service. Both of those though you have to be careful not to go over the £17.99 customs threshold or additional charges will be incurred. The only UK based site I know of that sells region free US blu ray discs is blubastard.com, but they ain't cheap.

I use movietyme and they have not let me down in over a year, they offer varying delivery times for blu-rays which you can pay incrementally for. They check all blu-rays to see which are region free and support this with a kind of blog.

Re: Recommended US internet Blu ray retailers

Have a look here, also:

DVDWorldUSA.com :: Blu-ray Titles

Not the cheapest, but reliable and generally fast delivery. Never had a problem with customs, but did with amazon.com, so I stopped using them. Usually a pound or two cheaper than movietyme, though I haven't done a recent comparison.

Cheers

Brian

Edit: http://www.movietyme.com/catalog/pro...ducts_id=46483
http://www.dvdworldusa.com/shopexd.asp?id=69925

A £3 difference, but probably best to check both sites for each purchase

Don't forget you have to add carriage to DVDWorldUSA's prices. I use both them and Movietyme- quality service from both.

They never add any postage costs to my orders. It shows as if it's going to be added, but it never does.

Haven't had to pay any customs charges yet with DVDWorld. It'a a while since I've used Movietyme, but I don't remember any charges there either.

Cheers

I've used Tower.com quite a lot over the last couple of years. You don't pay import duty as they are shipped from within the UK although they charge $5 shipping per disc.

Re: Recommended US internet Blu ray retailers

PlayUSA is stilll good but only for titles less than £18 (plus they upped their £17.99 ones too £18.99). However, if someone can wait, Amazon.com usually have a saving off a few pounds on many titles.

Re: Recommended US internet Blu ray retailers

Thanks for all your replies. I didn't realise Amazon.com would post to the UK. It used to be the case way back in the days of DVD that they wouldn't send R1 discs outside of the US.

They always have. I have been buying R1 discs since 1998 from them. They just put a warning up but as long as the person has a region free dvd player, it will play.

MovieTyme ship from within the UK so even though when you purchase there's a lot of stuff about you being liable for customs I've never been charged.

Although last week "Gone with the Wind" arrived as a DHL package from the USA (it was a big package) so I'm half expecting a customs demand for the first time in over 3 years of ordering from them (the included invoice said the goods were worth USD10 so I guess I may get away with it).

Remember that if a US company uses DHL or FedEx the goods may be delivered and the customs bill arrives out of the blue a few weeks after that :-O

Re: Recommended US internet Blu ray retailers

DVD Pacific - Buy New DVD Movies, HD DVD and Blu-Ray discs are superb.

Been using them for years always ultra reliable and some of the prices are very good. I always use FedEx shipping which adds to the cost & obviously you pay customs when appropriate but I can get any instock title 36 hours door to door USA to London, England!

Up came in six days but X Files came in 12 days.

$6.48 postage for one DVD or $8.97 for two. Add $2.49 for every
