Casino Royale Deluxe edition

Just played the Casino Royale Deluxe edition on BR, and there were several glitches (like a really quick jump) on the feature disc, has anyone else experienced the same problem? The disc looks fine, so I'm wondering if it's a problem with all other Casino Royale discs, or a problem with my player.

Also I noticed there to be quite a lot of grain on some of the scenes, obviously the opening "first kill" scene has a lot of added grain, but other scenes (eg the crane chase) were also quite grainy. I'd always presumed (perhaps wrongly) that this film would be crystal clear!

Thanks!

Re: Casino Royale Deluxe edition

I watched this a while back and don't recall any glitches on the disc at all. Nor was I irked by graininess. I was watching it with the picture in picture commentary though to be fair, so I may not have been paying full attention.

Re: Casino Royale Deluxe edition

I wouldn't say I was particularly irked by the graininess, I was just surprised it was there. As like I said, I'd been under the impression that this particular film was crystal clear.

Re: Casino Royale Deluxe edition

Had a quick look at this last night. Only checked the first 15-20 minutes or so, therefore can't comment on the PQ, presence of glitches etc throughout the whole film. The black and white scenes are definitely very grainy, but this is surely intentional. Apart from that I didn't find grain very intrusive at all.

Where did you experience glitches? If you let me know when they occur in the film, I'll try my copy to compare.

Re: Casino Royale Deluxe edition

It'd be good if you could have a look. The first glitch I noticed was when Bond was hacking into M's computer, another was when he was having a roll around on the floor with that bird he pulled after winning the Aston Martin. There was probably around 10 faults throughout the movie. When I went back the first time I noticed it jump, it didn't do it again. I've not had any problems with any other discs that I've tried. Maybe I should just get it exchanged for a new disc and try again.

Re: Casino Royale Deluxe edition

Just checked the scenes you highlighted and didn't detect any "jumps" or other defects as you mentioned. I have experienced something similar though with the Orphanage. I think it was a problem with 24 Hz of the blu-ray player and 100 Hz motion plus of my TV. I have the 100 Hz function off on my TV now and don't notice any problems. A shot in the dark...I don't know if that helps or even makes sense Alternatively, as you said, it may just be your disc.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Re: Casino Royale Deluxe edition

Watched the movie (first time on Blu) from the deluxe release last night via the PS3 and I didn't notice anything in terms of picture glitching, the PQ lived up to it's rep.

Re: Casino Royale Deluxe edition

Got a replacement and had another glitch (right at the beginning during the B&W bit, as the "double agent" reaches into his drawer).

Changed the BR player settings to output 1080p (was originally set to 720p, as I've got a 720p projector) and it seemed to sort it out. I'm convinced the picture quality is better too, though I can't understand why?! Haven't watched the whole disc yet, but I'm hoping that's it sorted!

Re: Casino Royale Deluxe edition

Checked mine also, no jumping or glitches

The grainyness is intentional - Quantum Of Solace bd is much the same!
