What can i access online via my TV?

Hi - i have a dilemma...I am just about to buy a TV but i am only in a flat for 6 months so cant sign up to 12 month digital contract for sky or anything and also cant get freeview - i dont even think i can get that great a pic for the standard channels so i am wondering what option i have to connect my mac and link online for films, programmes that will do HD TV capabilities justice etc?

I am only connected online via broadband dongle which allows 3GB per month which may also affect what and how much i can access/download. I am new to all this area so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Wilma.

3 gig really isn't enough, just by going by iplayer as an example 1 hr at hd quality is more than a gig, sd about 500-600 meg, 3 gig too small.
Ever thought of lovefilm or the like(such as blockbuster. lovefilm have 90 day codes floating about, but they have been known to thrttle access, (but if its free ) Also you can cancel fairly easily, no long term contracts.

Would definitely recommend a DVD rental service. Your 3GB won't get you anything really and you risk getting a massive bill by going over on those services.
