Play USA price hike

Hmmm... I was looking around the net for a good cheap source for UP on R1... and a few days ago, I noticed Play USA were doing the 2 discer for 17.99. I have gone back to look now, and the price has been upped £1... to 18.99... which means dreaded custom charges... but not only that, but most discs have risen to 18.99... which means import charges on so many titles...

Does anyone know if there is a reason for this (postal strike in UK?) I won't be using them again, as the import charges are ridiculous.

Re: Play USA price hike

There's already a thread about this, I think it may be in the Blu Ray section, they seem to have put everything up by a pound.

As you say, it now takes them over the Customs threshold and IMO, it's not worth the risk, I've no objection to the Customs charges, it's just the rip-off Royal Mail £8 charge.

Maybe when they notice how much business they are losing they may put the prices back down.

Re: Play USA price hike

That's ridiculous if it's correct. I really couldn't see how they could justify a £4 charge, let alone doubling it to £8 and now £12

Are you sure? £12 sound right for DHL or other courier delivery.

Re: Play USA price hike

I think the charge in total on a £18.99 comes to around £12, not the PO fee being £12.

Not quite, should be £10.85 (£8 + £2.85 VAT). However they never get it right all the time.

There is no customs duty unless the order is £105 or more.

Looks like they are now charging £17.99 for newer releases and preorders, some prices for the last couple of months are still priced at £18.99 though.
