Mine still hasn't arrived from Friday, nor has something sent recorded. Flipping joke. Strike hasn't even started yet.

Re: Anyone buying Gremlins on blu-ray?

I preordered mine from Amazon and they honoured the £9.69 price.
I opted for free delivery but they posted it yesterday and it arrived today - 7 days earlier than their estimate

Re: Anyone buying Gremlins on blu-ray?

Does the UK version have a slipcase ??

The Canadian/US version looks quite tasty.

Mine doesn't. Can't say I'm bothered as I also pre-ordered from Amazon @ £9.69 and the disc appears to be identical to the US/Canadian release (apart of course from a shiny slipcase!).

Deffo. I thought it was for buying useless memorabilia, but you can buy gift vouchers with your points as well. Very handy.

Re: Anyone buying Gremlins on blu-ray?

Why do they keep using this awful case art for Gremlins?

I'm just going to go ahead and drop into nerd mode.

That case art is all over the place. It's the Gizmo/Gremlin designs from the sequel. Come on guys!

It cuts me up because the original poster art for Gremlins is absolutely beautiful. Not that this taints the disc at all, which is actually quite nice looking for this movie. Just wish they'd give us the decent artwork.

The original poster art would have been much nicer.

Like they have in france Gremlins [Blu-ray]: Amazon.fr: Zach Galligan, Phoebe Cates, Hoyt Axton, Joe Dante: DVD

A few secs, once its on the self its just the spine you see. A cooler cover will give you bragging rights though and maybe even a boner if its awsome enough.

Re: Anyone buying Gremlins on blu-ray?

It's not so much the cover on the actual disc, it's that Warner keeps using that same awful cover for the Gremlins release when they have a perfect piece of art just begging to be used.

TrueHD soundtrack?

I've just bought Gremlins on UK Blu - and the sleeve notes said Dolby True HD 5.1 soundtrack, but the menu options on the disc only list a standard Dolby digital 5.1 option. Sure enough my amp wasn't displaying the TrueHD logo either... so I guess that means there's no high def sound on the UK copies?? Is this the case on the American discs too? (Picture quality was not much better than the DVD either - very disappointing!!!)

wait for Gremlins 1 & 2

I am gonna wait for Gremlins 1&2 bluray boxset, hopefully remastered by the time they release it and in a slim case holding both movies together, just for completism.

I have the UK disc and it has a TrueHD soundtrack in fact it defaults to it. Also, the English 5.1 soundtrack listed in the Language section of the disc menu is Dolby TrueHD 5.1.

If your amp is not displaying TrueHD then it is as a result of a setup issue and not the disc.

I got a copy from HMV for £8.

Picture is about as good as I was expecting, looks a bit 16mm -ish in places, but there is no excessive EE or DNR that I can spot, so it all looks quite natural, which is all I ask really.
