Looking to pick this up on either Blu Ray or DVD. Its one of those films where there has been many different transfers such as the superbit version etc etc. Can anyone recommend the best version for p.q?

If you are looking for the best DVD version then go for the Superbit version. However I am literally about to order the bluray version from axelmusic lol! Double dipping - AGAIN!!

Have you seen the region B Blu Ray version of the Crow? That should answer your question.

No, but of the around 800 Blu-rays I've watched, I have seen a couple that were not much better than a DVD. So far I haven't seen a single Blu-ray that actually looked worse than the DVD.

Having seen both the DVD and the BD, the BD is better even though it is a little bit (colours are better too). It doesn't help being such a dark film. The BD is also in 1080i.

I would say that 'The Crow' blu ray is quite a step up from the dvd, especially as it is filmed so dark. The blu ray really does bring out the details quite significantly.

When people say a BD is like DVD quality, sometimes it is easy to forget how bad DVD can look especially on bigger screens.

My R1 Superbit version has best PQ of any DVD in my collection.

I'm also sticking with my superbit (r2) for this one. If I get a 50" tv maybe I'l upgrade.

I still have the original R1 from 1997 (my first DVD) bought from Disc Emporium. I think it still looks good although I haven't tried it upscaled to 1080p yet. I would get the BD if it was cheaper.

yep , I have the superbit R2 version and the blue ray (rip-720p) version and from a distance on my 50" plasma both look equal. But if I walk up to my screen and stare at it 2 feet away, the 720p version is by far the most superior - And to think that's a 720p rip of the blue ray film, god knows how much sharper the full BD 1080 is. The rip is played from my PC and dvd from the panasonic player (upscaling done by tv, not the dvd player).

So basically when viewing from a distance on 50" I saw no difference. One of my all time favs

French R2 & R1 Superbit DVD

Now own the remastered blu-ray (one of my 1st blu-ray purchases)

The blu-ray is the best (especially on my system)
