Play.com & their e-mails

One of the more puzzling aspects of Play.com's decline in service (in my experience, at least) is that their dispatch e-mails are no longer reliable at all. I've often logged in to Play.com to see orders have apparently shipped, despite me not receiving an e-mail. Then, seen those orders go back on to the 'Outstanding Orders' screen and revert from 'Shipped on x' to 'Packing'.

Today, I received a dispatch e-mail for an order their site said shipped on Saturday and that I received yesterday! That order's page now states it shipped today, to which I commend them on their -1 day shipping! In reality, it shipped Saturday - the day I ordered it.

With Play.com seeming slower than its competitors these days, it doesn't help that on orders they do ship quickly nobody knows because their systems are playing up.

Does anybody else experience late e-mails, orders going back in to the packing state, and other odd occurrences?

Re: Play.com & their e-mails

You are not the only one with concerns with this company.
The bigger they get, the more errors will be made.
I have had a similar experience with Inetvideo.
Its just something we have to suck up, we are in the minority here, us consumers, as these companies sell, and the sell a lot of gear, I doubt they really care too much about missing emails, or correct information.
As long as you get your items, thats all that should matter..
One would hope for quality control over respective emails, but as I have worked in the e commerce industry before, trust me, when things go wrong, people (company workers) tend to ignore the mistakes, or sweep them under the carpet hoping no one will find them.. Hardly professional, but it does happen..

I've just stopped using Play - they have lost sight if one aspect of their business...their customers!

Re: Play.com & their e-mails

Something strange is definitely going on. I got a order confimation as usual but no dispatch email which was yesterday, or a usual cancellation email from another order I had.

Re: Play.com & their e-mails

I've never had a problem with Play but the emailing situation the OP made reference to has happened to me also.

Re: Play.com & their e-mails

I'm having a different problem - pre-orders that vanish.

On two occasions now, I've had a blu-ray on pre-order for months, and then - when the disc is released, it disappears from my order history entirely, and no disc ever arrives.

I'm not actually charged though, but it is annoying.

It has happened this week with Angels & Demons - the second Play have it in stock, then my pre-order vanishes - a pre-order I KNOW was there last week.

Weird.
