Really getting fed upwith PLAY

Having pre ordered Outlander on Blu Ray from PLAY for £16.99, they have dispatched it (although I still have not received it yet) and charged me the £16.99 and now this morning I see they are selling it for £14.99!!!!

I thought one of the bonuses of pre ordering stuff was to get the best price otherwise whats the point!

And whats more frustrating is I cannot find an email address on their website to complain too!!

They have got too big and don't care any more, I wouldn't waste your breath complaining.

I have been ordering from them from when they were a mail order company and spent thousands and they didn't give a stuff when I had a Birthday present for the missus go missing. It did turn up eventually (after her Birthday)

Never had a problem with them really (only bought DVD and BD).
One of my favourite on-line retailers.

Re: Really getting fed upwith PLAY

So have I but it really bugs me that they charge a pre order at a higher price then the day of release they drop the price but still charge me the higher price!

That is wrong in my book.

Re: Really getting fed upwith PLAY

Im very surpised that they have done that, as i have been with play for years and the customer service that they have given me have been awesome.
Have you checked that they have charge the £16.99? as they wont take out the money untill they have sent you the goods anyway?
If they have, you can call them, the number is at the bottom of the front page of the website. why dont you call them and explain.
And if that doesnt work, then send the game back and re-order...

Yes they have charged the 16.99 - I have sent an email to their customer services and will wait and see what they do.

Re: Really getting fed upwith PLAY

I don't use them much anymore. More than once, I have got the wrong item and it has cost me money to send it back ! They didn't even refund the full return postage.

They have got too big. I preferred them in their Play247 days.

I also rarely pre-order these days in case the price goes down when it comes out (or it goes in a sale).

btw, Outlander is £11.99 at Blockbusters (and instore too).

Re: Really getting fed upwith PLAY

Don't know if this helps the OP at all?

please contact our Customer Service Team on 0845 800 1020 (UK only) or +44 (0)1534 877 595 (outside UK). Our opening hours are 9am - 8pm Monday to Friday and 9am - 5pm Saturday and Sunday.

There is other play threads on here with CS email address's and I used the outside of the UK phone number to reduce the call cost.

Re: Really getting fed upwith PLAY

Hopefully my reply on another thread may help.......

I've used Play.com for years. Occasionally some titles may not be as 'available' as they suggest but I put that down to perhaps a slight lag with updating stock info on their site.

When I have encountered a delay with Play, I usually find the same item in stock eleswhere for the same money or less, cancel at Play and re-order from the other site (usually DVD.co.uk who are not on comparison sites but are the cheapest on some titles).

Play.com do however let themselves down badly on after sales service. I have had problems with discs, cancelled orders or returned them, asking for a refund. Their right hand does not know what the left is doing and they often send out replacements. I have tried to resolve the issues until I am blue in the face and always end up with discs that I neither wanted or paid for.

On the positive side, you are never out of pocket. Mad men season 1 is the last one that was refunded but re-sent twice! I informed Play that if they sent a replacement I would not pay postage to return it and reclaim costs - their advice is "just keep it"!

When all is said and done they are a good site and I continue to use them providing they turn up cheapest on a comparison.

In your particular case, send it back and re-order at the new price. If you do it by phone you may get them to send the replacement before you send the old one back.

Re: Really getting fed upwith PLAY

Well they have refused to refund me the difference so have canceled all my pre orders (over 20 of them) and am returning Outlander.

I know £2 is nothing but I have been using PLAY since they first started and they have lost sight of their customers and so I will now no longer be using them.

I do not understand how they charge me £16.99 on a pre order but when the film comes out they sell for £14.99 but still charge me the £16.99!

WRONG WRONG WRONG

Re: Really getting fed upwith PLAY

That sort of thing may sound trivial, but you are right as a loyal customer they have lost you. Companies like this who lose sight of what made them great will only suffer in the long run.
