OK, I've read a few threads here about legally buying movies online and downloading them.
Does anyone know of any, I know if you had half a brain you can download any movie for free, but I want to know where you can download the movied legite.

Lovefilm do offer some downloads, not sure if they are only to rent, or if you can actually buy them.

yeah, looked at love films, it's in beta testing but not many good new films. I might start an account to have a look.

Re: Legal downloads

I Tunes do legal film downloads but apparently you cant burn them to dvd. You have to keep them forever on your PC hard drive. I dont get that really. Why cant you put them onto dvd especially as you have bought it and own the copy legally!

It's to stop people copying them, and passing them off to other people. With iTunes, once you've downloaded the film, the fact that only you can play it on your machine, means that Apple can make sure that only you are the legal purchaser and copyright user of the film. If they allowed you to put it onto disc, then piracy would probably soar!

I know it's a silly way of going about it, but that's why you can't put the downloaded films onto DVD. Plus, the fact that iTunes assumes (quite rightly) that you intend to watch the films on an iPhone or iPod of one kind or another, which are portable devices, and so there shouldn't be any need to burn the downloaded movies onto a disc anyway!

Thanks for the explanation. So what happenes if you change your PC or you have to do a system reset? Can you download the movie again or do you just lose it? As for I pods etc I really dont see the appeal of watching a top hollywood blockbuster on a screen the size of a matchbox!! Mind you, I suppose I can connect my PC to my Tv and watch it on my tv that way. Or have I tunes found a way to stop you doing that? So do people actually keep loads of movies on their PC hard drive? Doesnt that slow down your PC somewhat?
