Question retailers using shrink wrapping

Hi,
Just wondering what other peoples opinions on why are retailers shrink wrapping dvd/blu-rays?

Today I received two blu-rays. One blu-ray came in it's original packaging and the other had been shrink wrapped. Both blu-ray are in perfect condition and work fine.

I e-mailed both Tesco online and Amazon to ask why the blu-rays had been
shrink wrapped they both said-

"All items supplied are brand new as received directly from our suppliers"

So is it the "suppliers" that are not sealing the dvds or is it the suppliers that are shrink wrapping them.

It's not only online retailers that are selling shrink wrapped blu-rays.When I was in hmv they also had blu-rays that had been shrink wrapped as well.

When I get a dvd/blu-ray that has been shrink wrapped I usually think it is second hand or one someone has sent back.

Re: retailers using shrink wrapping

I am not sure it is the retailers. The reason I say this is that every Blu Ray disc I have had delivered from online retailers in the UK and the USA that are from Paramount and Universal are always in shrink wrap.

Are you talking about proper shrink wrap where it's sealed all the way round the edge? Or just the cellophane wrapping where you can open it at the corners?

I can't remember having a UK blu-ray/dvd shrink wrapped, just US ones. And the UK Paramount blu-ray from Play I got today definitely wan't.

I am meaning and thought the OP meant the wrapping that looks like its been sealed in Cling Film. The last UK movie I got like this was Inside man from TheHUT.
