Problems with Movieignite.com (AVF Assured Advertiser)

I have held off for as long as possible before making this post, but the time has come to list my problems. To date this has been a very frustrating experience and still no resolve.

Back in June Movieignite listed some deals on selected titles for AVF members. One was for The Day The Earth Stood Still (remake) on Blu-ray for £10.99 delivered. You had to contact them for a special link to get the item at that price.

On June 25th I placed my order for the title above. By July 7th I had still not received the item, so sent them a PM asking for an update on my order.

I received a PM back on July 8th stating that it should be with me on July 9th or 10th. As they has not been receiving PayPal notification emails for payments received. But surely if you log into your account, you just see your payments in account history?

On July 15th I sent them another PM stating that I had still not received my order from June 25th. On July 16th I received a PM back stating that they would send a replacement and it should be with me by Mon July 20th. Obviously with all the strikes, this could take a bit longer, but I am just stating all the facts on this and will update later in the week.

On July 9th I mistakenly ordered what I thought was 12 Rounds on Blu-ray but it was R1 DVD. Straight away after placing the order I sent them a PM explaining my error and my wish to cancel the order and receive a refund.

By July 15th I had received no refund or reply to my PM, even through the user had been online after the message was sent to them. On July 16th I received a reply saying they had amended my order for the Blu-ray and will still charge me £14.99.

But this was not my original request, my request was for them to cancel my order and issue a refund. I replied back to that PM stating that it was nice of them to offer it at the same price as the DVD, but I really required the refund as I had originally requested. As I had now sourced 12 Rounds on Blu-ray since my original PM to them on July 9th.

I was online as the PM's were coming though on July 16th and replied instantly to them while the user was still online. But I received no reply and as of today July 19th, I have still not received a refund for 12 Rounds from the order placed on July 9th.

This has been a total nightmare up to press and I have never dealt with such a poor company like this before.

Still no communication or refund on the £14.99 for 12 Rounds.

Still no refund and still no The Day The Earth Stood Still on BD. Nor any response from them to this thread either

Very poor indeed.

Re: Problems with Movieignite.com (AVF Assured Advertiser)

Looks like I am in the same boat. Ordered 'Man with the Golden Gun' Blu-Ray on 25-6. Email advising of despatch on 26-6. Checked with them on 9-7 and automated email advising despatch on 10-7! Still not arrived. I have sent several emails and finally asked for a refund, but to no avail. Posted a dispute with Paypal on 21-7. Still no reply.

Re: Problems with Movieignite.com (AVF Assured Advertiser)

I have now escalated my dispute to a claim now with PayPal as they have not responded. Will give The Day The Earth Stood Still till end of week and then I will be doing the same with that.

Not sure how they became an Assured Advertiser on here as they are the worst company I have ever dealt with up to press.

Edit: It would appear their thread in the 'Bargains and Special Offers From Our Advertisers' forum has now been removed.

Re: Problems with Movieignite.com (AVF Assured Advertiser)

Original order from June 25th never been received, despite them stating it had been sent and then a replacement.

This transaction has also been escalated to a PayPal claim now.

Never had to claim through PayPal before, so I hope all goes well with this as I am now £25.98 out of pocket.

Re: Problems with Movieignite.com (AVF Assured Advertiser)

I took a gamble and ordered Mutant Chronicles from them, as I fancied seeing the US Director's Cut. Priced at £6.99 and obviously an error, but it definitely said Blu ray. My status is showing item as having shipped, so we'll see what,(if anything), turns up.

Re: Problems with Movieignite.com (AVF Assured Advertiser)

Good luck with your gamble. Not sure how long a PayPal dispute takes, Movieignite will have received notification from PayPal but as if yet, they have still not refunded me.

Just logged into my Movieignite account and both orders still say processing, even though the order from June 25th was supposed to have been despatched twice

Surprised to still see their banners on here as assured advertisers. They have not visited these forums since July 16th, which was when they sent PM's to me while I was online and never responded back to them.

I read your thread and was wondering are you any further forward with this if you don't mind me been cheeky and asking. As its nothing to do with me like.

Don't seam right what they are doing. I hope you get this sorted.

Re: Problems with Movieignite.com (AVF Assured Advertiser)

Will I won't be using them again after ordering both Sex Drive and Quantum of Solace in their special offer. Keeping in mind a supposed 7 day delivery time, I ordered on 26th June, got an order update on the 2nd July, a shipping confirmation on the 10 July and they finally arrivied on the 22nd July. I suppose small mercies are I actually did receive them eventually.

[unsubstantiated and potentially libellous comment removed by admin]

Only order if you're not fussed on waiting.

Re: Problems with Movieignite.com (AVF Assured Advertiser)

Received a reply from Paypal today:

After careful review, we have concluded our investigation of the Buyer
Complaint described below.

We have decided in your favour, however, we were unable to recover any
funds from the seller's account. As stated in the PayPal User Agreement,
recovery of funds associated with a Buyer Complaint cannot be guaranteed.

Please know that we will make our best effort to recover the funds in
question if they become available in the seller's account in the future,
and will take appropriate action against the seller. Such action may
include issuing a warning, a temporary restriction, or terminating the
account. Keep in mind that PayPal uses a number of factors, including
member complaints, to determine when to take action. Due to privacy laws,
we cannot discuss the details of any action taken. We hope you understand
our policy and that it reassures you that you are safe using PayPal
.

So it looks like I'll never see this money again. This makes me wonder how exactly I am 'safe using Paypal' as their cover doesn't seem to be much use. Has anyone ever filed a claim as this is my first?

Needless to say, won't be using this cowboy company for DVDs again. Hope you have better luck.

What would you say are the best alternatives to Paypal, especially when using Ebay? Had a look on the Paypalsucks site and it seems their response to me is very common.

Re: Problems with Movieignite.com (AVF Assured Advertiser)

Both my PayPal claims are awaiting a decision from PayPal. By the sounds of if from the post above, looks like I can kiss my money goodbye then

I am totally amazed to still see this companies advertising banner floating around on here

I will give more feedback once PayPal have completed and informed me of their decision.

Re: Problems with Movieignite.com (AVF Assured Advertiser)

Did you use your Credit Card via Paypal or just available funds? If you used your Credit Card, then firstly why didn't you just pay directly, but I would raise a complaint with them.

I would like to add I got charged 8 days before my Blu Rays were shipped contrary to their pledge they don't charge until order is shipped.

I used PayPal funds, which is why I wanted to use that payment method. Also Since Nov 2008 I have been the victim of card fraud twice. So very cautious when using my card online now.

Re: Problems with Movieignite.com (AVF Assured Advertiser)

Slowing giving up the will to live. PayPal are still reviewing the case, in their hands now

Also Movieignite as gesture of goodwill said they would send me a copy of The Day The Earth Stood Still FOC (which was good of them).

As of yet still no BD and of course no refund.

I am not expecting anything good to come from this, if it does then it will be a bonus.

I think because this has been going on since June 25th, they decided to give me a freebie (which is excellent news if it arrives). But don't forget here that they have supposed to have sent this out twice to me already. Now a freebie too, so that's three copies that as of yet, have never got to me

The freebie?... no time stated, not really bothered about it either to be honest (nice if it actually arrives obviously). Its the refund I would like. But as someone on here has already lost a claim to Movieignite via PayPal, I am not expecting to get mine either.

what time frame did they give on the last one before the free one.

I would reckon they will say the same time frame if you ask them.

Hope all goes well

Re: Problems with Movieignite.com (AVF Assured Advertiser)

Well much to my surprise, PayPal have refunded all my money back to my account this morning

To be honest I never expected to see it again. Its only taken 7 weeks and 4 days from placing the original order to finally getting it all sorted.

This has been one of the worst dealings I have ever had with a company in all the years I have been purchasing online. The total lack of communication till I got PayPal involved. Not to mention stating they had despatched it twice to me (3 times if you include the free copy that's supposed to be on its way). Unless I have really been really unlucky to have all copies stolen in the post

I CAN NOT recommend this company in any shape or form whatsoever.
