Rewind Website (DVDCompare.net) updates?

Anybody else notice that Movie data/specs on the Rewind Website (DVDCompare.net) seem to be much less frequent or slower to appear these days?

I used to use this site all the time to find out which regions of films had the best audio or video, find which films had DTS versions or a 6.1 soundtrack etc.

However, updates seem far less frequent now and it can be months before some movies appear. They used to happen at or even before release but now it's a struggle confirming details. Anybody know of a alternative site for such info?

Steve.

Exclamation Re: Rewind Website (DVDCompare.net) updates?

Hi,

Unfortunately, as DVDCompare is privately run, by fans for fans, the updates are limited to the availability and confirmation of material, by the website master and his few staff (read, friends).

As they have full-time lives, the site doesn't get updated as often as they would like. You also have to bear in mind, that so many countries now release different versions or re-release new versions of films, onto DVD and Blu-Ray, that it can become very, very difficult to maintain the results of which release is the best or most definitive. This is because not every release is identical all over the world. In fact, not only does Europe get different versions, depending on the country the title will be released in, but so does the rest of the world. As such, a film may have upto 10 differing editions released, all slightly different to one another.

To be honest, your best bet is to either ask for info on the AV Forums site, and hope that someone can help you out, or to use sites like Amazon, Play, and other similar places, to compare and contrast different editions/releases.

I don't think it would be easy for any website now, to actively get hold of every version of a film, from every part of the world, and actively compare all of them against one another, to come-up with a definitive list of which release is the best, because of the information I've just mentioned. It would simply be too expensive, and too time-consuming.
